      WGL - Energy Supply Analyst

      Washington Gas is seeking an Energy Supply Analyst to join our team! The Energy Supply Analyst is responsible for nominating, confirming, and scheduling supply on a combination of five different interstate pipelines that feed Washington Gas' system. This role involves executing natural gas supply plans and providing pricing analytics to support purchasing decisions. The Analyst should meet daily deadlines, participate in an on-call rotation, and show initiative for process improvement.

      What You'll Do:

      • Purchase seasonal, monthly, and daily physical natural gas supply contracts to meet customer needs.
      • Execute and manage nominations, confirmations, and imbalances on interstate pipelines (Columbia, Transco, Eastern, and Cove Point).
      • Track pipeline and storage nominations, deliveries from the Choice retail and third-party programs, and the asset optimization program throughout the Gas Day cycles.
      • Investigate and manage pipeline cuts each cycle to ensure full deliveries of gas supply.
      • Make recommendations on the optimal use of transportation and storage assets.
      • Provide pricing analytics to support purchasing decisions.
      • Become proficient in all interstate pipelines’ Electronic Bulletin Boards (EBBs) for timely execution of nominations.
      • Serve as the primary communicator of pipeline restrictions, OFOs (operational flow orders), maintenance, or supply disruption events.
      • Prepare reports and regulatory data requests as needed.
      • Collaborate with Gas Control to manage demand and supply balance.
      • Maintain accurate records of daily pipeline capacity and storage utilization in the Company’s Gas Management system.
      • Contribute to accounting activities by weekly balancing the Gas Management System to match the pipeline.
      • Monitor storage service activities by reviewing pipeline reports to match the reports maintained by Energy Acquisition.
      • Act as the pipeline expert, maintaining relationships with pipeline representatives and navigating pipeline websites to extract reports.
      • Procure and schedule propane and hexane supplies.
      • Engage in emerging sourcing initiatives including Certified Gas, RNG, and hydrogen.
      • Keep clean records for auditing and efficient accounting close.
      • Remain on-call on a rotational basis during assigned weekends and holidays to provide scheduling and balancing services.
      • Provide ad-hoc reporting as needed.

      What You Bring:

      • Bachelor's Degree in Energy, Business, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
      • 3 years of experience required. Internship experience will also be considered.
      • Working knowledge of gas trading processes and/or interstate gas pipeline systems (preferred).
      • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
      • Hard-working, self-motivated individual with problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
      • Ability to coordinate and complete multiple tasks with changing requirements while meeting commitments.
      • Comfortable presenting complex data to a general audience.
      • Proven ability to work at a fast pace and perform a wide variety of functions.
      • Strong prioritization and time management skills.
      • Experience with data analysis, reporting, forecasting, and accounting.

      We offer a competitive salary range of $72,000.00 to $99,375.00 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
