  Department Overview:	The Wisconsin Union, often referred to as "the heart and soul" of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has enhanced the lives of members and visitors since it was founded in 1907. Since 1928, when the doors to Memorial Union opened, the Wisconsin Union has served as the living room of the UW-Madison campus. The Union connects students, faculty, staff, members and visitors through shared cultural, social and recreational events and experiences.
  Anticipated Hours Per Week	6-8
  Schedule:	Wheelhouse Studios hours are 12pm to 10pm but group events and internships hours may be different from the studio hours. Schedule will be determined by studio needs and candidate availability. Minimum Hour Expectation 6-8 hours per week Anticipated Schedule Dependening on events needs and student's schedule
  Salary/Wage Range:	Hourly $15.00 to $15.00

  Position Summary/Job Duties:	The Wheelhouse Studios Intern will support the Wheelhouse Studios Director in the planning and execution of group events, as well as contribute to the daily operations of the studio. This position is ideal for students who are passionate about the arts, interested in community engagement, and eager to gain hands-on experience in arts programming and studio management. Responsibilities include: Assisting the Director in coordinating, preparing, and running group events and workshops Supporting studio classes through tasks such as class setup, attendance tracking, and materials organization Helping with scheduling and communication for student participants Providing general studio support including setup, cleanup, and maintaining a welcoming, inclusive environment for all participants Collaborating with staff to brainstorm and implement creative, student-centered programming Internship is for one year and applicants must be available for Fall 2025 AND Spring 2026 semester.
  Qualifications:	Joint internship with School of Education NOTE: We encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every qualification listed. We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic about the arts, excited to learn, and ready to contribute their own strengths. Artistic & Technical Skills Basic knowledge of multiple art mediums (painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, digital art, etc.) Ability to demo simple art techniques for beginners Event & Leadership Skills Experience leading group activities, workshops, or peer-to-peer teaching Strong public speaking and facilitation skills Ability to adapt activities for different ages, skill levels, and group sizes Comfort with guiding both structured lessons and open-ended creative sessions Organizational & Professional Skills Dependability and strong time management (able to prep materials and set up/clean up spaces) Flexibility and problem-solving skills during live events Attention to detail with studio policies (safety, equipment use, cleanup procedures) Interpersonal Skills Enthusiasm for art and creating an inclusive, welcoming environment Ability to engage participants with warmth and encouragement Team-oriented attitude—comfortable collaborating with staff, faculty, and fellow interns Sensitivity to diverse cultural and creative perspectives Other Helpful Qualifications Experience working with children, teens, or college students in creative settings Applicants must be enrolled in the School of Education to be considered. Internship is for Fall 2025 semester AND Spring 2026 semester. Art and Arts Education majors highly encouraged to apply.
