      Job Description:

      The Workday System Specialist is a member of the Workday Support team which is dedicated to configuring, enhancing and maintaining Workday, the College’s cloud-based software system for Human Resources, Payroll and Finance.

      Combining business analysis skills, functional area experience and Workday product knowledge, the incumbent is the prime resource for their particular areas of expertise. Starting with effective requirements gathering and communication with business owners, subject matter experts and stakeholders, the incumbent designs configuration options to address system challenges. The incumbent tests, plans the deployment and implements the chosen solution. Through all steps of the change enablement process, the incumbent is responsible for creating and maintaining clear, accurate and complete documentation, identifying cross-functional impacts and mitigating risks.

      Through research and the evaluation of new features, such as those made available through the bi-annual Workday releases, the incumbent pro-actively identifies opportunities for enhancing the user experience and driving the continuous improvement of end-to-end Workday business processes. The incumbent provides advice to colleagues within the team, to Human Resources, Payroll and Finance business owners, and end users helping them to better understand Workday functionality and best practices, as well as limitations of the system.

      The incumbent also serves as a backup resource in other functional areas of the Workday system.

      Working with a high degree of confidentiality and in collaboration with Labour Relations, Human Resources and Finance, the incumbent will ensure that changes to Workday do not compromise authorized access to employee relations, compensation, financial and other sensitive documents and information that is stored in the Workday system.

      • Experience with additional Workday HCM modules such as Talent Acquisition and Talent Optimization as well as Workforce Management (Absence, Time Tracking and Payroll) is considered an asset;

      • Experience partnering with stakeholders to work collaboratively with them from the identification of the business problem through to change management activities to support the successful adoption of a system change;

      • Experience in research and analysis, critical thinking and problem solving to support a best practice approach to future state Workday business processes;

      • Experience in test planning, developing and documenting test cases and test scripts, performing system testing and supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT) testers;

      • Experience identifying and providing input for various change management activities such as the creation of training materials and user guides;

      • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and technologies to all levels of the organization;

      • Extraordinary attention to detail to help maintain our Workday architecture, processes, security, and data integrity;

      • Experience providing time estimates, defining tasks, determining priorities and tracking progress towards completion;
