- Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
- 7+ years progressive experience in HR, workers’ compensation, risk management, case management, or relevant experience.
- Preferred experience in the hospital setting such as Employee Health, Occupational Health, Risk management, Human Resources or Infection Prevention
- Knowledge of employment laws including workers’ compensation, leave of absence, reasonable accommodation, OSHA, and HIPAA
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Certified Worker’s Compensation Case Manager
- Certified Professional in Disability Management (CDPM)
- Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN)
- Licensed Social Worker (LCSW)
Salary Range: $45.4100 - $69.8500 /hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Workers Compensation Case Manager consults and advises supervisors & employees on how to handle work related injuries/illnesses, procedural responsibilities, claim forms required, and general inquiries.
Receives and reviews injury reports, submits Workers’ Compensation claims as needed. Reviews internal injury reports filed by employees for completion and review by employee’s supervisor. Collaborates with the EHS Medical Director, Third Party Claims Administrator, treating providers, Human Resources, and department Directors. Obtains work status reports through the occupational medical clinic, the employee (treating outside of designated clinics) or the insurance carrier. Clarify work restrictions & accommodations given by health care providers (as needed) either directly through the treater or through the insurance carrier. Attends & participates in open case reviews. Maintains Workers’ Compensation files and records. Establishes and maintains contact with employee and supervisor and provides assistance with claims process and status. Notifies/consults with the injured employee’s supervisor on work restrictions that need accommodation. Partners with Employee Relations on work restrictions/ accommodation from a health care provider for their engagement of the ADA interactive process with the employee and final determinations. Notifies Benefits Administration of work-related medical leave of absences (via workers compensation) Ensure regulatory compliance including timely completion of OSHA 301 forms. This role requires thorough knowledge of the California Workers’ Compensation Labor Code, reporting requirements, OSHA determination and use of judgement in the treatment, referral, authorization for certain tests/treatments and ongoing follow up care for a claim until closure. Other tasks and duties as assigned by manager.
