- Deliver workforce information in a variety of ways – by attending one-on-one meetings that will occur in-person, online, or via electronic messaging; deliver presentations (both online and in-person), write articles, and provide other reports and research.
- Connect employers to Internet workforce resources, particularly the Employment Department's QualityInfo.org , and the WorkingInOregon.org website.
- Communicate with other economists and analysts regarding local activities and contacts.
- Provide customized, objective, economic information to the business and education communities with a focus on workforce trends and business needs.
- Develop expertise on how labor market information resources can support graduation requirements.
- Help strengthen local business customers’ workforce strategies through customized research, reporting, and consultations.
- Participate with government efforts toward economic development by writing labor market availability reports for employers who are locating or expanding.
- Background with a broad understanding of economic concepts, especially those that relate to the labor market, and a solid understanding of statistics.
- Demonstrated collaborative skills, including the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with customers, co-workers, and partners.
- Ability to present information to customers and audiences in a way that instills confidence in the information being conveyed.
- Ability to explain complex concepts to lay audiences in a way that allows them to apply the information provided to their own complex economic and labor market decisions.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

- Preference may be given to candidates with a Bachelor's Degree, or higher, in economics OR any Bachelor’s Degree or higher which included at least 3 courses in Economics with a grade of “B” or higher.

What You Will be Doing:
This is an Economist 1 position, with a working title of “Workforce Analyst”. This position covers Washington County Oregon. The central workplace will be in the Portland Oregon Metropolitan Statistical area. As a Workforce Analyst, you will distribute reliable information on workforce trends and characteristics for Oregon customers. This position will provide customized, objective workforce information to businesses and employers, and to organizations directly related to employers. You will also bridge the “information gap” between businesses and education, communicate the employer and education community’s needs to the workforce system, and communicate the various programs, policies, and services of Oregon’s workforce system to the employer and education communities.
