      The Team

      The Workforce Equity Division of Seattle Human Resources is looking for a new team member. The team’s work focuses on improving employment equity while breaking down institutional and structural barriers that disparately impact historically marginalized communities. The new advisor will report to the Workforce Equity Director.

      The Job

      As Workforce Equity Programs Advisor, you will manage programs necessary to ensure equitable outcomes for City of Seattle employees. Your top priorities will include:

      Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Program

      • Work with consultants and oversee the creation and submission of mandated EEO and AA reports and plans
      • Research and analyze federal and state laws to better understand, create for, and share compliance guidelines with Citywide staff
      • Serve as the City’s subject matter expert and lead, facilitate, and participate in cross-departmental advisory teams, including making presentations, providing training, and making policy recommendations
      • Work closely with HR staff and department leadership at all levels as a resource and coach

      Language Premium Program

      • Guide citywide language premium policy development and implementation
      • Serve as the City’s subject matter expert and help determine employee eligibility for language access service assessment, identify and track bilingual service assignments, and manage data regarding bilingual service assignments and employee language proficiency

      New Program Innovation

      • Use quantitative and qualitative data assessments to identify problematic workforce trends and conceive new programs to address inequitable systems and workplace culture in the city
      • Leverage existing resources, including people
      • Create budget proposals and pursue alternative funding sources

      To be effective, you have:

      • Deep familiarity with employment regulations related to EEO and AA or similar experience and the ability to learn quickly
      • Developed, managed, implemented, evaluated, and improved complex projects
      • Organized your work and tracked deliverables of contributors and consultants
      • Listened, written, and communicated to a wide range of audiences with different levels of understanding and competing agendas
      • Researched and analyzed federal and state laws and determined what the City needs to do to comply

      The broadband salary for this Strategic Advisor 1, General Government position is $43.89 - $65.83, for this position, our target salary is $54.86-$55.65/hour.
