Position Summary:
- Coordinate all aspects of managing a donor in the workup process
- Assess emotional well-being of the donor and develop a unique support and coordination relationship
- Schedule and conduct donor information sessions
- Manage the donor's physical exam and medical clearance process
- Complete all tasks required for donation, including managing blood sample and autologous blood collections
- Communicate case progress with the Case Manager and donor
- Establish and work with third-party physical examination sites
- Contact donor at designated time points to assess recovery and determine if intervention is required
- Remove donation barriers, resolve issues, and manage adverse events
- Facilitate donor and recipient communication and information exchange
Protocol Adherence:
- Responsible for workup and collection activities under an Investigational New Drug (IND) or research protocol
- Provide training to third-party providers performing protocol activities
Continuous Process Improvement:
- Implement and adopt strategies and systems for continuous process improvement
Continuing Education:
- Attend NMDP sponsored meetings and trainings
- Maintain operational and industry knowledge
Other Duties:
- Perform all duties in compliance with standard operating procedures and regulations
- Work with team members to deliver optimal donor experience and meet transplant center and patient expectations
- Participate in shared team responsibilities and staff backup
- Participate on NMDP project teams as needed
Required Qualifications:
- Knowledge of medical terminology, case-note documentation, and medical histories
- Ability to demonstrate strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
- Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office software
- Accurate and efficient completion of sensitive data forms
- Well-developed interpersonal skills dealing with people of different cultures and styles
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral
- Strong customer service skills and ability to apply active listening and empathy
Additional Job Specifications:
- Bilingual: fluent native speaker of alternate language or BA/AA degree in alternate language
- Knowledge of various secondary language cultures required
Education and/or Experience:
- Associate degree in nursing or related healthcare field
- Four years of patient interaction or care experience within a healthcare setting
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare field and two years' experience may be substituted for minimum experience
Other Requirements:
- Availability for occasional overnight travel and flexibility to work outside of core business hours
