Job Description

2nd/3rd Split Shift 6:30pm to 3:00am, With days off of Wednesday and Thursday after training.
2nd shift 2:30pm to 11:00pm, With days off of Wednesday/ Thursday after training.
- Receives requests for information by radio, telephone, Teletype, and computer systems and determines appropriate sources to access and/or action to be taken.
- Receives and responds to messages and requests from field personnel, external law enforcement agencies and others authorized to receive information.
- Prioritizes order of response to inquiries.
- Maintains logs and records.
- Verifies, updates and enters information into the Police Department's Computer System and National Crime Information Computer System.

- Some knowledge of the Federal Communication Commission's rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of standard computer keyboard configurations and ability to access, interpret, and record information using a video display terminal and electronic keyboard.
- Ability to learn, within a reasonable period of time, proper techniques for operating radio transmitting and receiving equipment and law enforcement related computer systems.
- Ability to receive and repeat information accurately and quickly.
- Ability to speak clearly and correctly using the English language.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates and representatives of outside agencies.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- An employee shall not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
- One year of clerical experience.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need of a sponsorship.
- Must acquire National Crime Information Center (NCIC) Terminal Operator certification within six months of employment.
- Six months of concurrent radio dispatch experience.
This is communications work in which the employee is responsible for handling requests for information by radio, telephone, National Crime Information Computer System, Teletype and Police Department computer system. The employee works in accordance with established rules and regulations. This employee works with considerable independence under general direction from a supervisor.Workday and hours:
A $1 per hour shift differential is available for hours worked from 6:00pm-6:00am
