      POSITION: Coach

      POSITION GUIDE: Certified Personnel

      9 Months

      Internal Staff

      REPORTS TO: Jr. High Principal

      Athletic Director

      QUALIFICATIONS:

      Professional expertise in the sport being coached

      Has current CPR/ AED certification prior to first scheduled practice of season

      Responsible professional behavior

      Knowledge of game rules and league regulations

      Demonstrated skills in youth leadership

      Ability to work cooperatively with a variety of people

      Participation in Coaches Certification Program

      RESPONSIBILITIES:

      1. Coach’s individual participation in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved
      2. Plans and schedules a regular program of practices throughout the season.
      3. Encourages academic success in the classroom by maintaining student eligibility records
      4. Works closely with the athletic director in scheduling intramural and interscholastic contests
      5. Recommends the purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms
      6. Plans and conducts tryouts for sport being coached
      7. Maintains necessary paperwork (attendance forms, tryout records, insurance forms, student physicals, etc.)
      8. Enforces discipline and sportsman-like behavior at all times
      9. Oversees penalties for breach of such standards by individual students
      10. Oversees the safety conditions of the facility & equipment on assigned sport
      11. Participates in professional growth activities as scheduled
      12. Assists Athletic Director in the planning and supervision of an annual recognition program for school athletes
      13. If necessary, submits all media requests to Sandy Zalewski, (Director of Communication and Development) for publication. At no time should coaches submit articles or interviews directly to media groups.
      14. Performs other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned
