- Consult with students in a variety of modalities, helping them to develop the confidence and skills to successfully complete a broad range of course assignments, activities, and genres.
- Assist students with educational technology, including but not limited to productivity and collaboration tools (such as Google Workspace and Microsoft 365), the College’s learning management system (D2L Brightspace), the department’s appointment scheduling system (TracCloud), and the ethical use of generative AI (e.g., ChatGPT, CoPilot).
- Review students’ online paper and/or presentation submissions and provide constructive, supportive feedback following WRIT Center guidelines.
- Meet students “where they are” in their writing processes and share appropriate composing strategies, as opposed to explicitly re-teaching information, editing, or proofreading.
- Support students who have received instructor referrals for additional writing assistance through personal outreach, individualized interventions, and timely follow-through communications.
- Model a commitment to lifelong learning, demonstrating academic and professional growth.
- Participate in required onboarding meetings, orientation experiences, training sessions, and professional development activities.
- Promote WRIT Center services in orientation tours, classroom presentations, peer review facilitations, and college events.
- Serve as primary point-of-contact in WRIT Center, following through on administrative tasks: opening/closing the Center, explaining WRIT policies/procedures, welcoming visitors, completing session notes, responding to inquiries, and updating supplies, among others.
- Assess student preparedness and engagement during sessions following the departmental rubric and supervisor guidance.
- Ensure FERPA confidentiality and maintain accurate, timely, and detailed records/documentation of student appointments, visits, and instructor referral follow-ups.
- Researching relevant topics to support students and/or the department.
- Contributing to WRIT Center marketing and promotion efforts.
- Referring students to campus services or community resources as appropriate.
- Participating in staff meetings as necessary.
- Assisting with training/mentoring other WRIT Consultants (peer or professional) as appropriate.
- Serving as class-embedded support for a writing-intensive course as directed by the supervisor.

POSITION SUMMARY
Writing Coaches conference with Delta students in-person and online (synchronously and asynchronously), facilitating individualized consultations and/or peer review sessions to support academic writing, presentation, information literacy, and educational technology skills (including the ethical use of generative AI.) During slow periods, they may also be requested to work on other learning assistance activities or projects to support students and/or the department. In the fall and winter semesters, this position works late afternoon/evening and weekend hours, some of which are on campus and others which may be remote. Schedule may change during spring and weeks when classes are not in session.
