WTTW News (Chicago PBS) is seeking a Newsletter Producer to conceive, write, edit, and produce a suite of engaging, popular newsletters for local news consumers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· In collaboration with editorial, marketing, and digital colleagues, develop, propose, and implement data-driven WTTW News newsletter strategy; rollout plan with the objective of achieving established metrics and audience growth goals.
· Work with editorial, marketing, and digital colleagues to develop and then implement a distinctive and engaging voice to differentiate the tone of WTTW News newsletters.
· Produce audience-driven newsletters from start to finish – write, edit, and fact check copy; gather related assets including images and graphics; ensure issue-specific promos and ads are included; prepare distribution list; and schedule/send from eblast software system.
· Build contact and distribution lists with the goal of exponentially increasing and retaining subscriber base for each newsletter.
· Consistently experiment with new formats and perform A/B testing across newsletter elements and tactics to drive growth and maximize engagement.
· Develop, document, and share analytics reporting; continuously analyze newsletter content performance and make recommendations for content adjustments and innovations.
· Perform other digital content production duties for news as assigned.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
· Demonstrated understanding of web analytics data to inform strategy.
· Demonstrated understanding of and passion for newsletter landscape, trends, and techniques.
· Ability to work independently, proactively, and persistently in a fast-paced and deadline-driven work environment.
· Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy; excellent organizational and planning skills.
· Strong interest in Chicago news.
· Understanding of journalistic ethics and procedure as well as an understanding of public media.
EXPERIENCE:
· 3+ years of experience writing audience-driven, data-informed news content.
· Demonstrated experience writing, reporting, fact checking and editing digital news with knack for identifying compelling topics and implementing ways of drawing readers in to build loyalty.
· Demonstrated experience utilizing photo editing and email blast/content management software.
· Expert knowledge of email analytics gathering, analysis, and reporting tools.
· Work experience with a news organization is preferred.
