About This Role:
• Supervises youth services department staff
• Develops and tracks youth services department budget
• Establishes and maintains community partnerships which includes local organizations and schools
• Assists in planning and developing library policies, procedures and standards
• Develops and facilitates public programming and story-times as well as instructional and training classes for staff and library patrons
• Assists patrons of all ages with information and circulation inquiries.
• Provides Readers’ Advisory and technology assistance.
• Creates displays and promotional materials in support of the branch’s Youth Services programming.
• Maintains the library’s physical collection of Children’s and Young Adult items.
Minimum Requirements:
Master’s degree in library or information science and 1 year of experience managing library systems operations.
Preferences:
• Experience supervising and evaluating staff
• Experience in budget preparation and tracking
• Experience in choosing and managing outside vendors
• Experience in the development and provision of programs to children and young adults including story times.
• Experience with engaging community organizations and schools through outreach.
• Experience with collaboration and team building skills.
• Excellent customer service skills to aid diverse populations.
Special Requirements: The position requires travel to other branches within the system. A DMV check will be conducted for employees who drive while on County business.
Work Schedule: This is a full-time, EXEMPT 37.5 hours per week position. The schedule includes days, one evening a week and rotating weekends. Scheduling flexibility is imperative. Schedule may vary depending upon the needs of the library.
Starting Salary Range: $69,186.00-$82,382
