      Job Description

      As a UX/UI Designer, you partner with a cross-collaborative managed engineering team of product managers, developers, quality assurance, and DevOps to transform design requirements into easy-to-use software. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that UX design is at the forefront of every decision-making process. From defining red routes to developing information architectures, you'll be responsible for creating designs that seamlessly merge functionality and aesthetics.

      Octaria and our partners utilize lean design methodologies to save time but not compromise on quality. The UX/UI Designer should be comfortable forgoing steps of the typical design process in order to create clickable prototypes efficiently.

      This is a contract, part-time, and remote-work position. Work hours will be flexible but aim to be in America/Chicago time. We offer competitive pay for industry rates, excellent work-life balance and culture, and a strong focus on learning/education.

      Responsibilities:
      • Lead the creation of user-centered design solutions that align with project goals and client requirements.
      • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including developers, product managers, and stakeholders to ensure cohesive and impactful design implementations.
      • Conduct user research, usability testing, and user feedback analysis to inform design iterations and improvements.
      • Champion the importance of UX design throughout the project lifecycle, from initial concept to final implementation.
      • Prioritize red routes and streamline information architecture to optimize user journeys and enhance overall usability.
      • Develop wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups to effectively communicate design concepts.


      Qualifications
      • 3+ years of proven experience as a UX/UI Designer, with a strong portfolio showcasing successful design projects.
      • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar software.
      • Solid understanding of user-centered design principles and best practices.
      • Experience conducting user research, usability testing, and translating insights into actionable design improvements.
      • Understanding of Information Architecture (IA) principles.
      • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical team members.
      • Ability to prioritize design decisions based on project goals, user needs, and business objectives.
      • Experience working within agile development methodologies is a plus.
      • Experience with popular UI frameworks, like MaterialUI, Tailwind, etc.
      • US-based and legally allowed to work in the US required


      Additional Information

      All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
      • This is a contract part-time position that allows you to have a flexible schedule within the core Central Time working hours of Monday-Friday, 8:30 am - 5:30 pm CST.
      • As this is a contract part-time, 1099 position, you will be expected to have your own laptop with stable and reliable internet access.
      • Estimated available part-time work for this role will be within 5-20 hours/week and may vary.
      • Compensation for this role is between $30-$60/hour.
