      Aspen Summer Internship Program
      The Aspen Institute Summer Internship program is an excellent opportunity for college students to gain experience in a fast-paced, highly stimulating setting, while also benefiting from the richness of programming hosted on the Aspen Meadows campus each summer. The Institute employs 15 college juniors and seniors (or recent college graduates) during the summer months in Aspen, Colorado to work with the Institute staff to produce and execute dozens of world-class events including the Aspen Ideas Festival. Internship opportunities are available in the following departments: Office of Institutional Advancement, Conference Services, and Public Programs.

      Note: All internships are paid position and interns are responsible for securing their own housing. Start date is June 5, 2023 unless otherwise noted.

      Editorial Intern, Aspen Ideas Festival
      The Aspen Ideas Festival is the nation's premier gathering place for leaders from around the globe and across disciplines to engage in inquisitive discussion of the ideas that both shape our lives and challenge our times. The Aspen Ideas editorial intern will take on tasks related to the Aspen Ideas Festival website, print production, podcast production, mobile app, social media, and more. This position is ideal for a student or recent graduate with a keen interest in communications, marketing, journalism, and events. The ideal candidate is highly organized and digitally savvy with outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and is comfortable in a fast-paced, constantly changing event environment. Editorial duties may include writing content for the website, assisting with social media, organizing photos and digital files, and gathering quotes during the Festival.

      Speaker Intern, Aspen Ideas Festival
      The Aspen Ideas Festival is the nation's premier gathering place for leaders from around the globe and across disciplines to engage in inquisitive discussion of the ideas that both shape our lives and challenge our times. Some 400 speakers attend the Aspen Ideas Festival each year. The Aspen Ideas Festival Speaker Team is responsible for managing all Aspen Ideas Festival speaker needs, including but not limited to managing speaker registration, coordinating speaker travel and lodging, database entry, cross-checking data and proofreading communications, and coordinating the Aspen Ideas Festival bookstore. This position is ideal for a student or recent graduate with an interest in event production, high attention to detail, and strong research skills. The ideal candidate is extremely organized, works well independently and as part of a team, and is able to go with the flow and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
      Start Date: May 1, 2023 (part-time/virtual) then May 22, 2023 (full-time/in-person)

      Underwriter Intern, Aspen Ideas Festival
      The Aspen Ideas Festival is the nation's premier gathering place for leaders from around the globe and across disciplines to engage in inquisitive discussion of the ideas that both shape our lives and challenge our times. The Aspen Ideas underwriter intern will provide administrative support and general assistance to the Festival’s underwriter managers and sponsors. Past sponsors have included companies like Facebook, Google, Audi, and Comcast. Duties include collecting and tracking underwriter speaker registration, sending invitations for private underwriter events, maintaining RSVP lists, and providing additional logistical event support. This position is ideal for a student or recent graduate with an interest in event production, a high attention to detail, and strong organizational skills. The ideal candidate works well independently and within a team, has outstanding communication and time management skills, and the ability to adapt to a high speed environment.

      Festival Fellows Intern, Aspen Ideas Festival
      The Aspen Ideas Festival is the nation's premier gathering place for leaders from around the globe and across disciplines to engage in inquisitive discussion of the ideas that both shape our lives and challenge our times. The Festival Fellows Programs provides the opportunity for a diverse group of leaders from all over the United States and different countries selected for their work, accomplishments, and ability to transform ideas into action to join us at Aspen Ideas: Health and the Aspen Ideas Festival. The Aspen Ideas Festival fellows intern will provide administrative and on-site support to the festival fellows manager and will assist with communication with all fellows, coordinating logistics, organizing events, serving as a main point of contact for roughly 200 fellows, troubleshooting issues during the Festivals, and more. This position is ideal for a student or recent graduate with an interest in events, marketing, hospitality, and networking. The ideal candidate is energetic, highly organized, adaptable, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

      Conference Services Intern, Aspen Conference Services
      The summer intern will work under the guidance of Aspen Conference Services team to support event preparation, execution and debrief. As part of event preparation, interns will assist with attendee, housing and travel lists, prepare credentials, support volunteer management and organize event materials. This position will also provide on-site logistical support for major events including set-up, registration, venue management, and event break-down. The ideal candidate has previous event management and/or volunteer coordination experience, is resourceful and has the ability to plan, organize and carry out multiple activities. A positive customer-service attitude is a must. Start Date: May 22, 2023

      Intern, Office of Institutional Advancement
      The Office of Institutional Advancement (OIA) oversees the Aspen Institute’s fundraising and donor relations. This role will assist with special projects as needed in support of corporate and foundation relations; annual giving and membership programming; major events; advancement communications, and will learn skills related to the coordination of the Institute’s Board of Trustees – working closely with the Corporate Secretary. All interns are also expected to provide general administrative and operational support, record data in Salesforce, and staff events as needed (including weekly Society of Fellows and Aspen Community programs, Aspen Ideas Festival, Summer Celebration, and Socrates Dinner). Ideal candidates will have experience working events, interest in nonprofit operations, and be able to handle sensitive information with detail, discretion, and care.

      Intern, Society of Fellows, Office of Institutional Advancement
      The Office of Institutional Advancement (OIA) oversees the Aspen Institute’s fundraising and donor relations. The Society of Fellows (SOF), a department of OIA, is the Institute’s national membership program that raises crucial unrestricted funding through unique and year-round programmatic experiences. Featuring thought leaders and topic experts, programs are designed to build community amongst supporters and enhance their engagement with the important work of the Aspen Institute. This role will focus on communications and programming through coordinating regular marketing emails, speaker communications, talent itineraries, venue logistics, and assisting with website updates. All interns are also expected to provide general administrative and operational support, record data in Salesforce, and staff events as needed (including weekly Society of Fellows and Aspen Community programs, Aspen Ideas Festival, Summer Celebration, and Socrates Dinner). Ideal candidates will have experience in customer service and event production, be highly detailed oriented, and have knowledge in communications and marketing best practices.

      HBCU Intern, Society of Fellows and the Bayer Center, Office of Institutional Advancement
      (Intern must currently be enrolled at a Historically Black College or University)

      The Office of Institutional Advancement (OIA) oversees the Aspen Institute’s fundraising and donor relations. The Society of Fellows (SOF), a department of OIA, is the Institute’s national membership program that raises crucial unrestricted funding through unique and year-round programmatic experiences. Featuring thought leaders and topic experts, programs are designed to build community amongst supporters and enhance their engagement with the important work of the Aspen Institute. The Resnick Center for Herbert Bayer Studies is an exhibition space and center for the study of art and culture that preserves the art and legacy of Herbert Bayer, an influential modern artist and designer. In this role, interns will focus on arts administration through assistance with Bayer Center staffing, tours, and digitization of archives. Interns will also practice advancement skills through the support of the Society of Fellows Regional Director and scheduling of stewardship and cultivation meetings, maintenance of the member hotline, execution of regular mailings, and event attendance recording. All interns are expected to also provide general operational support, record data in Salesforce, and work events as needed (including weekly Society of Fellows and Aspen Community programs, Bayer Center special programs, Aspen Ideas Festival, Summer Celebration, and Socrates Dinner). Ideal candidates will have great customer service skills, experience working events, interest in museum studies or art history is a plus, and will be able to handle sensitive information with detail, discretion, and care.

      Intern Skills and Experience:
