  The Role

  Moderna is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Security Co-op to join our Vulnerability Management team. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual looking to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, innovative, and collaborative environment.

  Our program starts on Jan 16, 2024, and ends on Jun 14, 2024. All applicants must be available to work full-time during this time range and must be willing to relocate to Cambridge, MA for the duration of the co-op.

  Here’s What You’ll Do

  • Assist in the identification, classification, mitigation, and reporting of security vulnerabilities.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of vulnerability management standards, procedures, and guidelines.

  • Collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure vulnerabilities are properly tracked, reported, and resolved in a timely manner.

  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing using a variety of tools and techniques.

  • Support the risk assessment process by identifying potential threats and vulnerabilities to Moderna's information systems and data.

  • Participate in incident response activities as needed, including investigations and remediation efforts.

  • Help in the creation of security awareness training materials and contribute to other security projects as required.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends, vulnerabilities, privacy regulations, and industry best practices.

  Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.

  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, IT systems, and networks.

  • Familiarity with common cybersecurity tools and platforms.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Willing and able to relocate to Cambridge, MA for the co-op

  • Indefinite right to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.

  Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience or coursework in vulnerability management, risk assessment, or related areas.

  • Knowledge of common security vulnerabilities and threats, as well as mitigation strategies.

  • Familiarity with vulnerability assessment tools and techniques.

  • Certifications like CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or CEH are a plus.
