      Is this role right for you?

      Global Regulatory Relations is responsible for the governance and management of our relationships with Scotiabank’s key regulators. Within Global Compliance, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of our team, while gaining insight into Scotiabank’s U.S. operations and primary business line: Global Banking & Markets.

      Global Banking & Markets provides a full range of investment banking, credit and risk management products and services relevant to the financing and strategic development needs of our clients. Our products include debt and equity financing, mergers & acquisitions, corporate banking, institutional equity sales, trading and research, fixed income products, derivatives, energy, foreign exchange and precious & metals. We also cross-sell the full range of wholesale products and services offered by the Scotiabank Group.

      What will my responsibilities look like?

      • Support the team on the continued growth of Global Regulatory Relations.
      • Be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
        • Conducting a research projects on emerging regulatory themes and creating presentations summarizing your assessment. Topics will likely include Emerging Technologies (Artificial Intelligence, Crypto-currency, digitalization of financial services), ESG (notably the financial risks associated with climate change), and other areas.
        • Synthesizing key regulatory and news highlights for a variety of audiences (i.e., staff to executives)
        • Supporting the team on the growth and build-out of Global Regulatory Relations by researching supervisory priorities of each of Scotiabank’s regulators and monitoring news and fines issued by regulators.
        • Support the research for the publication of a global monthly regulatory news report.
        • Developing working knowledge of our key regulators.
        • Collaborating with our Regulatory Advocacy team to analyze emerging and proposed regulations and possible impacts to the organization.
      • Learn about various facets of Global Regulatory Relations and banking.
      • Attend program meetings and engage with key stakeholders.

      Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

      We’d love to work with you if are pursuing an undergraduate degree in business, finance, economics and/or relevant experience with graduation expected between May 2025 and August 2026

      • You have a natural sense of curiosity and entrepreneurial spirit, asking questions to try and understand “the why” and while thinking creatively.
      • You have strong communication skills in written and verbal forms tailored for a variety of audiences.
      • You are able to work both independently and within a team setting.
      • You take considerable initiative, creativity, and exercise good judgment.
      • You are able to manage multiple tasks and deliverables from various individuals simultaneously.

      Technical skills and knowledge

      • You are proficient in MS Office suite including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
      • You have a basic understanding of banking, and a desire to deepen that interest.
