      Hamilton Lane, a global investment leader in the private markets sector, is seeking students in their junior year to join our Emerging Talent Program. This apprenticeship kicks off with a robust, hands-on training session starting in June 2024 at our Philadelphia headquarters in Conshohocken. Within the program, interns can expect to develop job skills, receive mentoring opportunities, and be coached by some of the industry’s best leaders within the investment teams.

      Successful candidates are interested in gaining knowledge within the industry, have demonstrated excellence in their studies, activities, and previous internships/work experience. They are also intellectually curious, analytical, creative thinkers, thrive in a team-based environment, and are exceptional communicators.

      Strong-performing interns are considered for longer-term careers at Hamilton Lane and may receive an offer to join our Analyst Development Program upon graduation.

      The Opportunity

      On the job training : Work as part of an investment team to develop investment decisions regarding private equity funds and portfolios:

      • Perform quantitative analysis on fund managers’ investment performance

      • Screen and evaluate investment opportunities across various strategies within private equity

      • Attend onsite and offsite diligence meetings alongside senior investment professionals

      • Assist in the creation of value-added private equity research reports on such topics as general trends in private equity and specific investment strategies

      • Prepare written investment recommendations for the firm’s investment committee

      Classroom training :

      • Attend classroom style training that provides baseline industry & company knowledge as well as professional development

      • Participate in cohort events, learning engagements, and networking opportunities

      • Observe, and in some cases directly participate in Hamilton Lane’s 2024 Analyst Development Program core training

      Capstone project/presentation:

      • Construct a research report – previous topics have included:

        • Benefits of private markets investing

        • Description of Hamilton Lane’s business model, value-add, and differentiation

        • Outline of the diligence process

        • Merits and concerns of a sample investment opportunity

        • Explanation of why the sample investment is a good fit for a particular client portfolio.

        • Present the report to senior investment professionals and relationship managers acting as a mock prospective client board

      If you are interested in applying to our Emerging Talent Program, we require:

      • High academic achievement: 3.0 or higher overall GPA required.

      • Majors: We are interested in applicants who have demonstrated excellence in their chosen majors, have strong analytical talent, and are keenly interested in investments. We will consider all majors for our program; however, the following majors are preferred: Business, Finance, International Business, Accounting, Economics, Financial Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics.

      • Language: English Fluency

      We are particularly interested in candidates who have demonstrated:

      • On-Campus Leadership: in clubs, sports, community service, etc.

      • Success in Professional Level Internships: with references to illustrate that success

      • Language Skills: additional spoken and written languages.
