What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Plan, analyze, and report on statewide annual agricultural irrigation water use
- Assess irrigation water use data to monitor trends in agricultural water use
- Collect, review, and validate irrigation metering data
- Evaluate metering data and perform statistical analysis for comparison with annual irrigation water use estimates
- Design and program computer hardware and software for remote sensing applications and data management
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Data Science, Geographic Information Systems, Natural Resources, Sustainability, Environmental, or related field
- Up to two years of work experience in agricultural water conservation, production, and irrigation water use concepts, as well as data analysis and research
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to agricultural water conservation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and data analysis software
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Graduate degree in Agriculture, Geographic Information Systems, Natural Resources, Sustainability, Environmental, or related field
- More than two years of experience in agricultural water conservation, production, and irrigation water use concepts, as well as data analysis and research
- Familiarity with agriculture, irrigation scheduling, and agricultural water conservation best management practices in Texas
- Experience with relational databases, data visualization tools, computer programming, ArcGIS, and remote sensing
- Experience in managing contracts
