- Has full responsibility and leadership for overall supervision of his/her program at ALL levels.
- Responsible to see that all students participating in the sport have received proper clearance.
- Responsible for assignments and duties of the assistant coaches (volunteer or contracted) working in his/her sport as well as keeping all records for the sport.
- Organize his/her program so that it is consistent with the district’s and high school's philosophy, goals, and objectives.
- Submits an annual evaluation at the end of the season of his/her program and makes recommendations for improvement.
- Assumes main responsibility for striving to build good sportsmanship and developing good public relations within the school and community.
- Responsible for scheduling and supervising practice sessions for his/her sport.
- Responsible for assuring that all assistants (contracted or volunteer), as well as self, know the rules of the Washington Interscholastic Athletic Association, KingCo Conference, and the Mercer Island School District policies and at all times abides by them.
- Informs the public (i.e., media) regarding his/her particular sport as appropriate.
- Continues to gain new knowledge, ideas, and techniques relating to his or her sport through new information and classes as well as keeping current on clock hours.
- Communicates and is responsible for all safety procedures necessary for their specific sport.
- Holds a current first aid and CPR card and is responsible for welfare of all athletes.
- Communicate a clear process for the selection of team members to the athletes.
- Assume other responsibilities as may be assigned.
- Instructs students in the fundamentals of the sport s/he is coaching.
- Maintains facilities and equipment.
- Supervises team players at practice, contests, in locker room and during travel.
- Promotes sportsmanship and fair play among all teams and players by always setting a good example for participants and fans to follow, exemplifies the highest moral and ethical behavior; instructs participants in proper sportsmanship responsibilities and demands they make sportsmanship a high priority; respects judgment of contest officials, abides by rules of the event and displays no behavior that could incite fans; treats opposing coaches, participants, fans and media members with respect; develops and enforces penalties for participants who do not abide by sportsmanship standards; and develops a method to publicly recognize good sportsmanship.
- We are looking for someone who is motivating, inspiring, communicative and organized .
- Attends all meetings (district and league) pertaining to his/her sport.
- Submits a budget for his /her sport consistent with district procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Hold a current and valid First Aid and CPR card
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Prior coaching experience preferred
COACH POSITION: Boys' Water Polo - Head Coach (Fall Season)

THE SALARY RANGE SHOWN IS BASED UPON THE 2024-25 COACH SALARY SCHEDULE. IF THESE RATES ARE ADJUSTED FOR THE 2025-26 SCHOOL YEAR, THE SALARY FOR THIS POSITION WILL BE ADJUSTED AS WELL.
