      The Opportunity:

      The College of Journalism at the University of Florida is seeking a detail-oriented, collaborative, and highly organized Academic Assistant to support the Division of Graduate Studies.

      In this role, you’ll serve as the first point of contact for applicants, students, and faculty, supporting the division’s core operations. The ideal candidate will have strong verbal and written communication skills, enjoy working as part of a team, and be comfortable managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. A keen eye for detail, excellent organizational skills, and a solid foundation in office administration are essential.

      Key duties:

      • Coordinates and communicates division deadlines.
      • Assists division staff with maintaining records/files.
      • Manages the tracking and reporting of enrollment data.
      • Collaborates with faculty on maintaining course schedules, collection of course syllabi, textbook adoptions, etc.
      • Coordinates the planning and execution of various activities and events.
      • Maintains policy and informational updates in handbooks.
      • Collaborates with the web team to facilitate updates to the website.
      • Collaborates with division staff in overseeing all social media accounts.
      • Assists with the creation and design of department materials such as newsletters, flyers, and social media graphics.
      • Assists applicants by answering program and admissions questions.
      • Responds to inquiries related to division policies and procedures. Must be knowledgeable of various aspects of the division so that inquiries are addressed and/or routed appropriately.
      • Maintains division directories and listservs.

      Expected Salary:

      $19.50 - $22.50 per hour; commensurate with education and experience

      Required Qualifications:

      High school diploma or equivalent and three years of relevant experience.

      Preferred:
      • Bachelor's degree
      • Experience with data tracking and reporting, including the ability to generate and interpret reports.
      • Basic experience with creating visual content such as flyers, newsletters, or social media graphics.
      • Demonstrated commitment to student support and success.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
      • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.
      • Previous experience in an office or administrative setting.
