      Job Title:

      Accounting Lead

      Location:

      Malabo, Equatorial Guinea

      Reports to:

      Business Services Manager

      Responsible for:

      • Performance of all designated in-country accounting tasks and month end financial closings, in accordance with IFRS, local accounting standards, and local and Group accounting and reporting policies and procedures, to include, in general:
        • locally administered accounts receivable and payable (including associated withholding, value added or other tax considerations) and related banking and treasury functions,
        • general ledger accounting,
        • fixed asset and depreciation accounting,
        • foreign currency transactions and revaluations,
        • monthly ledger closing and generation of balance sheets, profit and loss and cash flow statements.
      • Performance of any other assigned in-country accounting tasks not specifically mentioned above.
      • Coordination and oversight of fully compliant local tax preparation, recording, reporting, and payment with external advisors.
      • Coordination and oversight of fully compliant local payroll preparation, recording, reporting, and payment with external advisors.
      • Submitting monthly financial accounts to Business Unit and Group finance.
      • Providing input as required for the development, implementation, and maintenance of ERP Finance functionality.
      • Compliance with company’s internal control framework and delegations of authority.

      Business Unit:

      Asset Solutions – EPS W

      Main purpose of role:

      · Maintenance of financial accounts compliant with local and Group accounting standards, policies, and procedures.

      · Ensure timely closing of the accounts to consistently meet Group reporting expectations and deadlines.

      · Ensure compliance with local laws and regulations associated with finance-related transactions and activities (taxation, duties, payroll, business registrations, permits, etc.).

      KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

      · Establish and document effective accounting and reporting policies and procedures for local and Group purposes and monitor and report compliance with same.

      · Provide finance guidance and input to expenditure approval processes, implementing effective controls, monitoring, and reporting.

      · Serve as a principal point of contact with counterparts in Business Unit and Group Finance as related to management and update of the company’s processes and tools for maintaining the accounts in accordance with applicable standards, policies, and procedures.

      · Perform, or oversee performance of, all accounting tasks and reconciliations assigned to the local Finance function.

      · Coordinate and assist with performance of any accounting tasks and / or financial reporting performed on behalf of the Equatorial Guinea branch by the company’s Head Office.

      · Collect, collate, and submit supplementary financial information in formats and at intervals required for Group and other reporting.

      · Maintain local banking relationships and ensure all are in accordance with Group Treasury guidelines and instructions, signatories are in accordance with Corporate Resolutions and Delegations of Authority, and all disbursements are duly authorized in accordance with same.

      · Regular and timely performance of local bank account reconciliations.

      · Control, monitor and reconcile any local petty cash funds.

      · Implement and / or recommend improvements to existing financial reports, and develop new reports, with a view to simplify and streamline preparation and distribution.

      · Manage local internal and external financial audits .

      · Manage, with external advisor assistance, any local tax, or other finance-related, audits or examinations by local authorities.

      · Serve as principal point of contact with local auditors, tax advisors, and tax authorities.

      · M anage local tax and regulatory compliance to avoid penalties or other assessments .

      A successful Accounting Lead in the Finance team will:

      · be a motivated, self-starter having, or keen to obtaining, a high level of understanding of the company’s business activities and objectives in Equatorial Guinea as well as the local accounting, tax, and other regulatory requirements.

      PERSON SPECIFICATION

      Knowledge and Qualifications:

      · Accounting or business-related degree,

      · 10+ years accounting and reporting experience,

      · Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting standards to include IFRS.

      Skills and Competencies:

      · Fluent English,

      · Advanced Spanish speaker preferred but basic Spanish speaker with willingness to learn is acceptable,

      · Competent PowerPoint, Word, and Excel user,

      · Experience working in an ERP (SAP, Oracle, etc),

      · Proactive, innovative, results driven,

      · Ability to work to tight deadlines without compromising accuracy or quality,

      · Good interpersonal skills, ability to interact positively with others.
