      Central San, a progressive public utility, is seeking a qualified candidate to fill an Accounting Supervisor vacancy. This position is responsible for organizing and overseeing the day-to-day financial processing, reporting, and record-keeping activities of the Finance Division and is responsible for providing professional-level support to the Finance Manager. The ideal candidate is an experienced accounting professional with strong leadership skills and a track record of providing accurate and efficient work.

      Duties of the position will include:
      • Assigning, supervising, and reviewing the work of subordinate staff responsible for accounting activities.
      • Coordinating the development, administration, and oversight of the District budget.
      • Preparing and analyzing a variety of complex financial reports.
      • Participating in the preparation of month-end, quarterly, and year-end reports and financial statements.
      • Monitoring general ledger activities and reviewing and approving journal entries and bank reconciliations.
      • Performing the most technical and complex accounting tasks of the work unit and preparing analytical and statistical reports on operations and activities.
      Education:
      Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major coursework in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.

      Experience:
      Five (5) years of full-time experience in accounting and financial management administration, including two (2) years of lead or supervisory responsibility.

      License and Certifications:
      A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is preferred but not required.

      The most qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the examination process. Human Resources shall determine the examination steps to be used for this recruitment. The steps may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, practical examination, application screening, and/or oral board examination. One or more of these steps may be used and in any order. At the end of the testing process, candidates passing all of the examination steps will have their names placed on an eligibility list. The list is valid for six months and may be extended up to an additional six months at the request of the hiring department. The list established by this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies in this classification.

      Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement to the examination process. All applicants will be notified of the results of the review process. Successful candidates not currently employed in regular status by the District must pass a pre-employment physical to be considered for appointment.
