Actuarial Intern

Time Frame: Summer 2024
Work Location: Remote, Hybrid, or In-Person (Madison, WI)

Pay Range: $24.00-$32.00/hour, depending on # of actuarial exams passed and prior internship experience.

Relocation: If you live more than 50 miles from our corporate office and elect to work in our Madison, WI office, you may be eligible for a housing stipend to assist with your relocation expenses.

Job Description:

We are looking for an analytical individual who has demonstrated understanding of actuarial and statistical concepts. The Actuarial Intern will be an active member of a team and assist in meaningful work to help the company further its mission of creating a brighter financial future for everyone.

Work may include creating and running actuarial programs on PolySystems, GGY Axis, ResQ, Triton, Python or R, maintaining and enhancing spreadsheets, visualizing data on Power BI, brainstorming new ideas, making recommendations, and presenting your work to others. This work may be part of a larger project with multiple contributors, including experience studies, interest rate/dividend calculations, product development, pricing, or actuarial model transformation. In this internship, you will gain exposure to a corporate environment and have access to senior leadership. Attention to detail and clear communication are needed to be successful in this internship.

Job Requirements:

• Working towards a relevant degree or equivalent work experience
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Excellent communications skills
• Intellectual curiosity and the desire to learn.

Preferred Experience:

• Pursuit of a bachelor's degree or higher in Actuarial Science, Risk Management & Insurance, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field.
• Passed 1 or more actuarial exams (but not required)
• Prior internship experience (but not required)
• Exposure to Microsoft Excel

Compensation may vary based on level of relevant experience, year in school and number of previous internships.

Base Salary Range:
$24.00 - $32.00
