What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Supervise Presiding Administrative Law Judges (PALJs) and Administrative Law Judges (ALJs), including hiring, training, and evaluating staff
- Oversee and manage the appeal and hearing processes, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards
- Monitor and prepare reports on the operations of the Office of Appeals
- Conduct hearings, making evidentiary rulings and issuing legally correct decisions based on research
- Lead and participate in special projects as assigned by upper management
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited university and membership in good standing in the Arizona State Bar
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the practice of law, demonstrating strong analytical skills and legal research capabilities
- Extensive knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and due process
- Proven ability to supervise and motivate staff effectively
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience as a Judge, Administrative Law Judge, Hearing Officer, Arbitrator, or mediator
- Strong dispute resolution proficiency and exceptional research and writing techniques
