    • Serve as the first point of contact for students, parents, staff, and visitors.

    • Provide general clerical support, including answering phones, managing emails, filing, and data entry.

    • Create and distribute the daily school bulletin.

    • Manage incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries.

    • Maintain student records and process transcript requests.

    • Support student services, including attendance tracking and basic health office assistance.

    • Utilize and manage the Student Information System for student data management and reporting.

    • Assist with some Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable duties.

    • Provide secretarial support to the Principal and Dean of Students/Athletic Director.

    • Assist in communication efforts, including updating the school website and managing social media platforms.

    • Provide support for Community Education programs and activities.

    • Other duties as assigned to support the smooth operation of the school office and district needs.

    • Preferred: Associate’s degree (2-year degree) or two or more years of experience in a school secretarial or administrative assistant role.

    • Preferred: Experience managing websites and social media communications.

    • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

    • Proficiency in the Google Platform and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and willingness to learn new software systems.

    • Familiarity with student information systems (SIS) preferred.

    • Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality.

    • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

      Verndale Public Schools is seeking a detail-oriented, friendly, and highly organized Administrative Assistant to join our team. This individual will serve as the first point of contact for students, staff, families, and community members, supporting the daily operations of our School, Principal, and Dean of Students.

      Position Overview:
      The Administrative Assistant provides essential clerical and administrative support to the Principal, Dean of Students/Athletic Director, and Community Education Program. This role requires excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple tasks at once, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality in a busy school office environment.

      Hours and Schedule: (Dates are subject to change, but times will remain the same)

      • August 1–15 (approx): Three days per week, 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
