      Your opportunity:

      Under general direction of the Manager, Administrative Services & Research, the incumbent is responsible for the financial and payroll administration of research accounts for principal investigators, processing payment transactions, auditing monthly statements to ensure the accuracy of documents processed, resolving discrepancies and assisting professors with their expenditure planning. Provides administrative support to a number of professors, including handling correspondence, monitoring the status of students, visitors and other personnel, and referring professors to appropriate resources.

      Your responsibilities will include:

      • Monitoring, recording, reconciling and/or reporting on restricted fund accounts
      • Applying the University Guide to Financial Management and other applicable policies, agency and regulatory requirements
      • Tracking the financial status of accounts
      • Processing payroll
      • Processing expense reimbursements
      • Acting as the first point of contact for general enquiries
      • Overseeing day-to-day operational needs of the unit

      Essential Qualifications:

      • Advanced College Diploma (3years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
      • Minimum three years relevant financial and/or administrative experience in an autonomous, decision‐making position, preferably in a University environment
      • Experience in grant and/or project administration
      • Experience with financial accounting including administering funds and managing multiple grants, account reconciliation and preparing financial reports
      • Experience meeting competing priorities and reporting to multiple stakeholders
      • Experience with monitoring and reconciling financial accounts
      • Experience applying and interpreting financial and other applicable policies (e.g. GTFM, NSERC)
      • Experience with financial and human resources information systems

      • Excellent computer skills, including Excel (including creating and manipulating spreadsheets, working with formulas), Word (including word‐processing and preparation of documents of varying complexity), Outlook, and databases for retrieving and organizing data and information
      • Demonstrated knowledge of financial processing and skilled at resolving discrepancies
      • Strong demonstrated understanding of financial accounting principles
      • Strong verbal and written communication skills
      • Excellent organizational, prioritization and time management skills in order to meet competing deadlines
      • Strong attention to detail
      • Proven commitment to providing a high level of service and to take initiative in identifying and resolving issues

      USW Pay Band 10 -- $69,455 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $88,819. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
