      Overview

      Gordon-Conwell is a multidenominational, protestant graduate school, unique with its broad array of over 1,300 students and 200 faculty and staff from 78 denominations and over 50 countries. We offer a residential model of education at South Hamilton, MA (our main campus); an urban context in Boston, MA; adult educational models in both our Charlotte, NC campus and our offerings in Jacksonville, FL; in addition to online and cohort models involving students from around the world.

Rooted in the gospel and God’s Word, the seminary seeks to develop Christian leaders who are thoughtful, globally aware, spiritually mature, and ready for a broad array of ministries.       Position Summary

      The Admissions Representative recruits students to advanced degrees at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, including the Master of Theology (ThM), Doctor of Ministry (DMin) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programs. In addition, the Admissions Representative is responsible for processing DMin applicants through the application form to matriculation. The Admissions Representative works closely with the broader Admissions team at the seminary. The position entails intermittent travel in other parts of the country and participation at on-campus events.

      Key Responsibilities

      1. Recruiting (50%)
        1. Manage emails and phone calls for new and existing ThM, DMin, and PhD leads and document interactions in HubSpot (CRM).
        2. Maintain strong relationships with key influencers of prospective students and expand the name recognition of the seminary.
        3. Meet with prospective students who visit the Hamilton campus.
        4. Support recruitment events, such as Explore Seminary.
        5. Develop collegiality with GCTS faculty.

      1. Processing Applications (35%)
        1. Under the direction of the Admissions Processing Manager, process applicants through the online SONIS application by assisting with documents, database management, and updating students regarding their application status.
        2. Manage cohort numbers and track starts in collaboration with the DMin Program Manager, Dean and faculty mentors.
        3. Update spreadsheets as leads progress through the application process. Write up a report for Dean, once application complete, for decision.
        4. Attend weekly department meetings with DMin Team to update staff on applications, numbers, and cohorts.

      1. Travel & Events (15%)
        1. Represent the seminary at conferences and events, including transportation, setup, and takedown of seminary public relations displays and publications.
        2. Manage recruiting webinars for DMin program tracks and other virtual events pertaining to the ThM and PhD.

      Key Competencies

      • Excellent written and oral communication and listening skills.
      • The ability to travel and recruit at a distance. Occasional weekend and evenings may be required.
      • the Advancement Representative should be able to demonstrate a knowledge of and competency to network within one or more ethnic communities. Experience with multicultural recruitment process a plus.
      • Exceptional interpersonal abilities manifested in a confident, warm, outgoing manner.
      • Good character, flexibility, discretion, confidentiality, and theological awareness.
      • Understanding of the academic, personal, and spiritual capabilities required for theological study.
      • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
      • Solid experience in the use of computer hardware, software, and database management, and the willingness to learn.


      Education and Experience

      • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, graduate theological degree preferred.
      • Preferred previous experience in higher education enrollment management (preferably in admissions), or relevant recruiting experience in another field.
      • Ministry or pastoral experience is a plus, given that the Admissions team interacts with potential students as well as pastors and denominational leaders.
      • Experience in multi-ethnic/cultural/lingual contexts.
      • Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport required.
