As a member of battery materials development organization, you will lead our effort to develop new battery materials to power the future. You will play a leading technical role in our team to strategize and execute our ambitious battery roadmap through materials innovation. Your expertise and experience in materials development to enable a new generation of battery cells will help us deliver extraordinary features to Apple’s future products.

      Key Qualifications

      • BS +10 Years of relevant industry experience
      • Advanced degree in Chemical Engineering, Material Sciences, or related field preferred
      • Extensive industry experience with new battery materials and cell development experience.
      • Prior experience leading material scientists and cell engineers to achieve performance targets of new battery cell is highly desirable.
      • Experienced with full cell design, cathode-anode-electrolyte interactions, cell testing and cell failure analysis.
      • Technical mastery of cathode materials is required including proven expertise in cathode precursor, composition, production process, critical-to-quality (CTQ), analytical and quality control techniques. Additional experience developing and integrating new electrolyte, anode, and binder materials with cathode is strong plus.
      • Established technical leader that is effective at driving innovation and collaboration through cogent communication, steadfast commitment and teamwork.
      • Significant industrial experience developing and managing collaboration with partners and suppliers.
      • Impeccable level of integrity, professionalism and standards of excellence with regard to work and interactions with teams and partners.

      Description

      •Lead advanced materials development centered around cathode material to achieve new generation of cell’s performance targets. •Lead the iterative process of materials optimization, cell integration and materials-cell performance correlation analysis. Conduct full cell performance based material composition design, proof-of-concept DOE, material down-selection, and cell performance validation. •Contribute to advanced material roadmaps, strategy and execution plan including leading collaborations with selected suppliers and partners •Participate in multi-functional team effort to navigate and enable new materials introduction to products.

      Education & Experience

      BS +10 Years of relevant industry experience. Advanced degree in Chemical Engineering, Material Sciences, or related field preferred

      Additional Requirements

      • Travel to suppliers and manufacturing facilities expected

      Pay & Benefits

      • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $150,000 and $269,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
