- The selectee will serve as the Mission Area Lead (MAL) for Space Spectrum Warfare. Directly supports AFRL Enterprise in coordination with other MALs utilizing operational expertise and technical acumen to lead external MAJCOM and DAF engagement for promotion and alignment of S&T capability development efforts intended to address DAF mission area shortfalls and priorities.
- Provides day-to-day customer engagements on behalf of AFRL for needs collection and solutions development related to Space Spectrum Warfare.
- Represents AFRL at senior-level engagements with DAF personnel and advises AFRL leadership of engagements and key activities.
- Analyzes DAF mission area shortfalls and advises AFRL/CC, through AFRL/CT and DTEO for Space, of the efficacy and alignment of S&T development efforts with DAF needs for adjustments in AFRL resource allocation and prioritization of Space Spectrum Warfare technology development.
- Provides an integrated assessment of DAF gaps and health of AFRL S&T portfolio in addressing operational shortfalls.
- The Space Spectrum Warfare MAL leads customer engagement and is the primary interface to external stakeholders including CTIO, SWAC, SAF/SQ, USSF Field Commands, the intelligence community, and other organizations across the NSS to develop prioritized tech needs/capability gaps for satellite communications and position, navigation, and timing (PNT).
- Develops a professional network and maintains technical awareness between AFRL and the NSS in coordination with the Space Based Sensing, Comm, GIISR and C2 MALs for C4ISR and AFRL’s Senior Scientist for PNT.
- Applies specialized engineering knowledge to define cross directorate strategic research vision & long-term goals of the Space Spectrum Warfare portfolio of projects to address USSF S&T priorities.
- Supports the annual AFRL Enterprise planning & present high priority needs in support of how priorities are addressed in Mission Org briefs.
- US Citizenship
- Must possess a professional science or engineering (S&E) degree from an accredited academic institution
- Uses broad professional science or engineering knowledge, skills, and experience to direct the analysis, evaluation, and assessment of various space and related technologies.
- Demonstrated experience of working independently, leading collaborative events, working in teams, and using these skills to find and solve complex problems. Such experience may also include training conduct, collaborative process facilitation, innovation design practice, technical writing background, continuous process improvement credentials, multi-agency liaison work, published work in refereed technical journals, and briefings to Senior Leaders/large groups
- Experience in space related efforts includes but not limited to Space S&T, Cyber Protection, BMC2, Space Systems, Space Technology, and/or any other experience that may qualify as space related.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and with multidisciplinary teams in a highly dynamic environment.
