This role will be responsible for managing inventory levels for multiple sales channels (stores and direct) from the implementation of seasonal plans, through analysis of current and historical sales trends to maximize in-stock performance at both the sales channel and item levels. Contribute to the financial success of one or more departments by meeting or exceeding sales, gross margin, and inventory turn goals.
The Distribution Analyst will interface with employees throughout the Merchandising organization on a day-to-day basis, as well as working directly with cross-functional teams and partners.
Responsibilities and Duties
CORE COMPETENCIES:
Analysis
• Analyze seasonal store sales trends and adjust allocations to maximize inventory turn
• Ensure costs are managed effectively
• Assist with developing volume projections
• Review weekly sales and inventory reports to ensure appropriate allocations for new and replenishment drop-ship orders from vendors
Inventory Management
• Allocate merchandise based on stock sales analysis
• Identify consolidation and transfer opportunities to ensure the most efficient use of inventory across all selling channels
• Monitor and resolve inventory control issues that involve on hand inaccuracy and data integrity
Collaboration
• Develop a strong and effective field communication routine to capture location-based opportunities as well as minimize or limit liabilities
• Partner and communicate with the distribution center to manage allocation and purchase order priorities
• Monitor merchandise availability and proactively communicate issues or opportunities to the Merchandising team and management
Other Operational Analysis
• Analyze stock to sales performance by Dept., Class, Vendor, Category and Key/Core Items to maximize store in-stock positions
• Allocate merchandise based on stock to sales analysis resulting in adequate stock levels to meet or exceed expected store sales plans with minimum inventory investment
• Generate weekly replenishment allocations from the distribution center based on sales and inventory analysis
• Manage store level inventories based on capacity constraints, regional seasonality and sales trends to maximize sales and inventory turn
• Translate assortment and buy plans into actionable allocation criteria
• Recommend allocation strategies that will maximize sales potential with the least amount of inventory
• Develop and institute minimum presentation/ownership quantities to support each promotion event
• Work with the Planner and Merchandising team to develop best practice size pack breakdowns to improve overall in-stock positions to maximize sales
• Manage the Store Ranking Vendor Grid to improve and maintain an efficient allocation and assortment planning process
• Manage new store inventory levels to ensure in-stock positions on all distribution center allocated items for opening
• Assist with ad-hoc projects as needed
Additional Skills:
• Strong analytical skills with a keen ability to analyze and understand quantitative data with extreme accuracy
• Excellent retail math and organizational skills with the ability to proactively identify trends and offer solutions
• Ability to draw conclusions from extensive data and present it in an understandable format
• Computer, Microsoft Excel and database query proficiency
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational, prioritizing and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to achieve business results while maintaining multiple priorities
• Interpersonal skills including the ability to work well independently as well as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• Must be flexible and be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to develop strong relationships across all levels of the organization
Requirements:
• 2-3 years of relevant operational analysis and/or analytical experience, with a minimum of 2 years within a multi-channel retail environment preferred; 1-2 years of process improvement experience preferred
• Experience using an automated replenishment system preferred
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent
