      Employee Relations Lead, AMR

      What this job involves

      The Americas ( AMR ) Employee Relations Lead will identify and lead through gaps that may exist in perception , understanding , or performance expectations between employees and management, and advise solutions that uphold JLL’s principles related to fair and equitable treatment of its employees and the best interest of JLL. They will proactively anticipate possible challenges related to employee matters and make recommendations to mitigate risk to the firm. They will demonstrate an understanding of the needs of the business and the employee and recommend appropriate and fair actions to support those needs.

      The AMR Employee Relations Lead will steer and embed the AMR Employee Relations (ER) and US Labor Relations (LR) Communit ies of Practice. They will develop the ER and LR proposition s across AMR managing key stakeholders in line with the direction of the HR strategy, and ensuring ER, HR, APAC , and EMEA alignment.

      The AMR Employee Relations Lead, and associated team, will work with all HR Centers of Excellence and Communities of Practice that support the Geo (People Service & Excellence, Reward/Talent/L&D/Talent Acquisition) to embed and execute HR processes and provide seamless ER support to the business . ER support services include providing expert advice concerning risk related to administrative agenc y charges and litigation, settlements and alternative dispute resolution, organizational change and transitions (including reorganizations, account transitions , etc . ), terms and conditions, policy and practices, high-risk /complex cases/investigations and other ad-hoc programs and initiatives . LR support services include providing expert advice concerning risk related to negotiating CBAs, advising on unionization efforts, and high-risk performance management issues, as well as other ad-hoc programs and initiatives.

      Key Accountabilities

      • Lead through change to embed the AMR ER Community of Practice and further construct and execute an integrated AMR ER strategy (with a view to global philosophy and strategy), including leading a nd expanding an ER team .

      • Model and develop behaviors , values , and practices focus ed on collaboration , accountability and a growth mindset t hat deliver strong results while remaining positive and motivated to do their work.

      • Ensure delivery of a specialist, tiered ER support service across all AMR -based employees providing policy, process, advice , and guidance to business lines including but not limited to:

      • Work Dynamics (including Account Management and Project & Delivery Services)

      • Markets ( Leasing and Property Management )

      • Capital Markets and Valuations Advisory

      • Corporate Functions

      • JLL Technology

      • Collaborate with regional/global HR/ER representatives to understand local approaches and identify shared interests, helping ensure up-to-date knowledge, compliance, knowledge sharing , and ER data tracking.

      • Act as a key enabler of the people agenda by leading the ER team to deliver value and expert ER support.

      • Align and communicate with compliance/in-house legal and external AMR networks to ensure, maintain , and inform good practice(s).

      • Lead with data, provide expert consultation, guidance , and coaching to business leaders and HR People Partners on high-risk /complex issues to help resolve, minimize disputes and costs , and implement changes successfully.

      • Advise on highly complex ER cases/problems by evaluating pertinent information, analyzing findings, and applying relevant Company policies and practices to reach a conclusion.

      • Lead by example as a player/coach and work on most complex cases while serving as the escalation point for the ER team, demonstrating best practices .

      • Oversee case management, appropriate records of investigations and ensure routine audits of ER work.

      • Evaluate ER risks, and learnings and propose forward-looking action(s) incl. readiness for AMR legislative change and other organizational impacts e.g., COVID-19 , case learnings, etc.

      • Develop HR and line manager capability in line with best practice, policy , and legal regulation ensuring an exceptional employee experience, risk mitigation , and dispute resolution.

      • Inform, help lead, develop , and embed ER programs and process improvements to enhance the employee experience in collaboration with vertical/horizontal stakeholders.

      Technical

      • Expert breadth and depth knowledge of employment (including wage and hour ) laws and regulations

      • Excellent ability to gather, synthesize, analyze , and report ER data

      • Highly developed skills in understanding and teaching about data, trends , and the impact of that information on the team and company

      Interpersonal

      • Proven work experience in managing others and building high-performing teams

      • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills ; bilingual in Spanish preferred.

      • Excellence in exercising good judgment in making independent decisions with a high degree of tact and diplomacy

      • Expert collaboration, conflict resolution , and negotiation skills with the capability of coordinating with diverse disciplines

      • Comfortable advising in ambiguous situations and advising accordingly

      • Significant experience in successfully influencing and negotiating with the courage to make difficult decisions , and deliver difficult messages with a proven ability to recommend and/or apply appropriate action based on policy/procedure and/or business practice

      • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and inherent application of discretion

      • Demonstrated high level of ethics, and integrity, and possess diversity and inclusion acumen

      • Proven ability to maintain neutrality and calm demeanor in tense/conflict-ridden situations

      Education & Experience

      • 8+ years’ experience in employee relations matters, preferably gained in a matrix environment within AMR

      • Bachelor’s degree in human resources , Industrial or Labor Relations , or other related field

      • Law degree or post-graduate experience in Human Resources preferred

      • In-depth knowledge of employment legislation and AMR regulation including extensive practical experience of supporting wide-ranging , complex , and sensitive ER matters

      • Ability to contextualize ER issues aligned with HR process and regulatory requirements and anticipate issues

      Estimated compensation for this position is:

      227,500.00 – 260,000.00 USD per year

      The pay range listed is a total compensation range including bonus, if applicable. The provided range is an estimate and not guaranteed. An employment offer is based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data.
