- Participate in the development of solutions to day-to-day issues and larger challenges facing the investment management business.
- Produce fund budgets and forecasts, including fund modeling and overall performance, capital raise and deployment assumptions, and fee and expense drivers.
- Analyze fund expenses to ensure resource optimization and funds are competitive.
- Develop skills to prepare presentations of financial and operating results to executive management, the board of directors, and external stakeholders.
- Participate in the development of the fund's liquidity profile and capital structure.
- Drive the execution of strategic initiatives at the fund and business verticals.
- Lead portfolio monitoring foundation-build initiatives, leveraging new technologies where applicable; drive reporting initiatives and processes.
- Minimum of 12 months of experience in financial services (e.g. investment banking and similar roles a plus).
- Advanced financial modeling proficiency and superior Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Degree in real estate, finance, accounting, engineering, math, or computer science a plus.
- Knowledge of the financial markets and real estate markets and a plus.
- Strong organization skills; excellent attention to detail; self-motivated and team oriented.
- Ability to produce accurate results under tight time constraints.
The firm is looking to add a qualified analyst to support its various fund and investment teams. The Analyst is responsible for working alongside the investment teams, portfolio managers, and executive team to support the growth and management of the investment funds and businesses. The Analyst is exposed to investment decisions but is tasked with helping to drive the growth and strategic direction of the business. This includes taking a leadership role in analyzing and setting distribution rates, projecting and maximizing fund and firm earnings, working across shared services departments (e.g. operations, finance, and technology) to align on infrastructure and support needs of the business, and reviewing and driving budgeted expenses for the business unit. The candidate will gain exposure to communicating key financial and operating results to internal and external stakeholders such as the fund's Board of Directors, and FS’ executive team.
The candidate will also gain broad exposure across real estate, private equity, and credit asset classes. The candidate will be responsible for performing thorough analysis, crafting presentations, and evaluating feedback from across key areas of the firm. The candidate will be responsible for tracking down and resolving issues which detract from the Investment Team's ability to focus on investing and marketing their funds. The analyst will become a knowledge expert on an asset classes and specific funds by building and running financial projections and forecasts, understanding key drivers of fund and business performance, comprehending the unique aspects of fund structures, and grasping key operational, compliance, and control considerations of the business unit.
This role requires a self-starter with strong intuition, analytical and organizational capabilities and who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves. This person must have a business mindset and help drive solutions to day-to-day issues and larger challenges.
