      Note: This is an on-site position and the incumbent will be required to be in the office to carry out assigned job responsibilities.

      What is the opportunity?

      The Mid-Market Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Group is seeking an Analyst to support the Origination team in Toronto. The Mid-Market M&A team is a strategically important business unit that provides a value added services offering. This position is ideally suited for a candidate seeking investment banking experience with entrepreneurial clients. Mandates include the sale of privately owned businesses and non-core divisions, acquisitions, shareholder and management buyouts, and capital advisory services.

      What will you do?

      • Provide administrative and sales support to the Origination Team based in Toronto

      • Assist in preparation of internal and external marketing materials

      • Conduct thorough research on companies and industries and delivery of concise summaries

      • Support team in the preparation and presentation of marketing pitches to existing and potential clients

      • Establish relationships and collaborate with key RBC partners including Commercial Banking, Capital Markets, and Wealth Management

      • Generating new business pipeline through prospecting outbound opportunities

      What do you need to succeed?

      Must-have:

      • A post-secondary diploma/degree, ideally in commerce or business administration, or related experience

      • Demonstrated success in a business development role, especially with respect to the acquisition of new clients, and prospecting

      • Strong computer literacy with emphasis on PowerPoint and Excel presentation skills

      • Ability to use research tools to extract relevant background material for business development and transaction support

      • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment under time constraints

      • Entrepreneurial attitude and self-motivation to achieve above average results

      • Ability to prioritize, commit to a task with excellent attention to detail, and perform well under pressure to meet time sensitive deadlines as this is frequently not a 9-to-5 environment

      Nice to have:

      • CPA, CFA, CBV or other relevant professional designation or relevant advanced degree – ongoing or completed
