- Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
- Read to students, listen to students read and participate in other forms of oral communication with students.
- Assist with homework assignments.
- Assist with small group projects.
- Assist with clerical duties in the classroom and/or Special Services Offices (copying, filing, mailings, etc.)
- Assist in managing behavior under the teacher’s direction and assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, and field trips.
- Provide guidance to students with skill development during Community-Based Instruction.
- Attend meetings as requested to review student progress.
- Assist students in non-instructional settings with a variety of tasks and activities as assigned.
- Help substitute teacher in the absence of the regular teacher.
- Assist the nurse with student toileting functions if necessary (for example: diaper changes, physical movement/assistance of student, cleaning and other required needs).
- Assist student with all instructional tasks including reading, writing, homework/class assignments, movement of equipment (e.g., microscope, laptop, assistive technology devices/equipment).
- Provide guidance to student with skill development during Community-Based Instruction.
- Assist student in non-instructional settings with a variety of tasks and activities as assigned.
- Attend meetings as requested to review student progress.
- Assist students in the Media Center and/or Wellness Center as assigned.
- Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills in a work environment (Job Sampling and Internships).
- Assist with directions and workplace assignments.
- Assist with small group projects within the workplace setting.
- Assist in clerical duties (copying, typing, etc.) when needed to ensure student progress.
- Assist with completion of reports.
- Provide student progress reports.
- Act as a liaison between site mentor and Work-Based Learning Supervisor.
- Research new site placements for Job Sampling and Internship experiences.
- Assist in managing behavior under the mentor’s direction in the workplace and in conjunction with Behavior Consultant.
- Collect data for task analysis and behavior modification and submit these to Behavior Consultant as assigned.
- Supervise students during transportation to job sites as assigned. Paraprofessional to serve in a full-time position as an Instructional Assistant, One-to-One Aide and/or Job Coach as assigned according to the descriptions below. May be assigned to serve as a substitute teacher if certified.
