      The Department of Economic Security, Division of Technology Services (DTS) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Applications Developer Senior/Lead (SmartComm Developer). This position will be responsible for designing templates, building and maintaining existing templates for complex systems. Provide technical guidance and mentor junior developers within the organization.

      This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

      Job Duties:

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

      • Develops new applications to meet functional and technical designs, fixes and develop changes to applications to meet functional and technical designs following best practices and development standards and guidelines.
      • Work to analyze, debug, and resolve defects in applications while proactively solving complex problems.
      • Supports production systems; analyzes and resolves production problems in a timely manner; resolves end user service requests as assigned.
      • Completes unit and system test application changes to ensure quality of work required.
      • Performance tunes, reviews and recommends improvements to existing codes.
      • Reviews and recommends improvements to existing architectures.
      Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

      Knowledge of:

      • Multiple programming languages, multiple database management systems, multiple development platforms, and systems integration.
      • SmartComm modules such as Advanced Template Designer (ATD), Data Modeler, and Web Editor.
      • Database technologies and SQL.
      • Understanding of agile development processes.

      Skill in:

      • Excellent customer service skills.
      • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

      Ability to:

      • Develop and write technical documentation
      • Quickly learn and develop in new programming languages, APls, and platforms.
      • Evaluate and test emerging technologies.
      • Learn new technologies and adapt to changing requirements.
      • Apply creative solutions to business problems to ensure business needs are most effectively met.
      • Balance, prioritize and organize multiple tasks.
      • Work collaboratively in teams and across organizations.
      • Synthesize feedback and adjust plans accordingly
      • Build strong relationships inside and outside the organization
      Selective Preference(s):

      The ideal candidate for this position will have:

      • Extensive experience of SmartComm modules such as Advanced Template Designer (ATD), Data Modeler, and Web Editor.
      Pre-Employment Requirements:
      • Bachelor’s degree plus 8 or more years of programming and analysis experience (or equivalent experience)
      • Employee shall obtain and maintain a valid Level One fingerprint clearance card that meets DES requirements for a Level One card pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 41-1969.
      • If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then the following requirements apply: Driver’s License Requirements.

      Retirement:

      State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period. The ASRS defined benefit plan provides for life-long income upon retirement. You will also have the option to participate in a voluntary deferred compensation program to take advantage of tax-deferred retirement investments.
