      About this opportunity:

      The Asset Retirement Decommissioning Engineer-in-Training will work with Cenovus team members (Operations, Business Unit, and other ARO disciplines) to create capital efficient pipeline and facility abandonment programs across Cenovus’s Western Canadian assets. The successful candidate will also be responsible for decommissioning project creation in Generwell, AFE creation, progress and cost tracking with SiteView and Spotfire, coordination with other ARO work and scheduling and planning programs/projects.

      This is an office-based position based in downtown Calgary, AB.

      Responsibilities:

      • Develop capital efficient decommissioning plans that meet safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.

      • Collaborate with Operations and Business Units to ensure a plan is developed and all abandonment approvals are received.

      • Collaborate with Decommissioning Front Line Supervisors to develop scopes of work for pipeline and facility abandonment.

      • Manage capital funds and progress for pipeline and facility abandonment work.

      • Ensure communication and coordination of work with all partners (Asset Retirement team, Operations, Business Unit, Surface Land, Regulatory, etc.).

      • Identify, manage and address potential delays in the preparation process for pipeline and facility abandonment.

      • Develop and maintain standard processes for the work being performed.

      Qualifications:

      • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

      • Completion of post-secondary education in Engineering or a related Technology program is required.

      • Eligibility for registration with APEGA or other Provincial Engineering Association.

      • 3+ years of industry experience.

      • 2+ years of decommissioning experience (facility or pipeline) considered an asset.

      • Demonstrated experience in scheduling, decision and risk analysis, and budget and cost controls.

      • Experience with project management and managing a program with multiple projects.
