      What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
      - Advise on workers' compensation issues and provide guidance to human resources professionals across the City
      - Represent the City in litigation before federal and state courts, administrative agencies, and labor arbitrations
      - Draft legal documents, including interrogatories, motions, and settlement agreements
      - Manage e-discovery processes and prepare witnesses for depositions and trials
      - Collaborate with colleagues to implement the City's Race and Social Justice Initiative in legal practices

      What is Required (Qualifications):
      - Membership in good standing with the Washington State Bar Association or eligibility to obtain membership within four months of employment
      - Expertise in state and federal employment law with experience in litigation of labor and employment matters
      - Proven ability to advise HR professionals and management on complex employment issues
      - Strong organizational skills to independently manage a legal portfolio and meet tight deadlines
      - Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with clients and colleagues

      How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
      - Experience in traditional labor law
      - Background in advising public employers, particularly in public safety sectors
      - Knowledge of equity-related policies and practices
      - Experience first-chairing complex litigation and appeals
      - Familiarity with the intersection of employment law and disability accommodations
