      Overview

      Reporting to Electric Boat’s Controller, the Assistant Controller will be responsible for ensuring General Dynamics Electric Boat financial reporting is prepared in accordance with US GAAP. Responsible for overseeing the General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Payroll and Timekeeping functions for a multi-billion dollar company across multiple operating systems. The selected candidate must work collaboratively across departmental functions and with minimal direction to provide guidance to the finance and accounting groups.

      In addition to the above the selected candidate will be responsible for the following:

      • Analyze, research and conclude on new and proposed accounting, reporting and disclosure standards issued by the FASB in regard to revenue and cost accounting. Will prepare memorandums regarding the Company’s position and impact on the Company
      • Proper timing and application of ASC606 revenue recognition rules. This currently entails a real- time review with the director of financial planning and analysis on contractual arrangements and its terms for changes needed. Involves significant interactions with Contract and Cost Accounting Management
      • Proper application of ASC of ASC842 recording the financial impact of leases. Involves interaction with Accounting and Facilities Management
      • Prepare technical accounting position memos for material transactions, ensuring position complies with GAAP. Communicate and inform business and finance leaders regarding associated financial impacts
      • Follow Emerging accounting issues and proactively analyze their impact on the Company’s financial statements and lead implementation of new accounting standards
      • Provide value added analysis of financial data on an ad hoc and periodic basis to support Controller and senior management as well as General Dynamics Corporate Accounting
      • Through personal leadership and management, create a positive work place that promotes employee success, satisfaction and professional development

      Qualifications

      Requirements:

      • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance or another business related technical field
      • Licensed CPA
      • Must have at least 10+ years of Public Accounting Experience

      Preferred:

      • Leadership experience
