- Responsible for planning and maintaining fiscal records, month-end reports, and preparing financial reports that summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in income, expenses, and earnings, based on past, present, and expected operations.
- Responsible for monthly and quarterly analytical review of both the financial operations of individual stores and the consolidated financial results of the Company.
- Responsible for monitoring, maintaining and implementing internal controls, as needed.
- Involvement in and overseeing the general ledger entry preparation and review, account reconciliation reviews, and month-end close process, including analyzing and reporting the results to the accounting department and Company leadership.
- Coordinates and assists with all tax reporting and updates with outside tax accountants.
- Supports the direction of financial planning and procurement.
- Provides ongoing GAAP financial reporting to support the development of strategic initiatives and business plans.
- Assists in managing month-end close reporting, financials, timeline, and overall process with other accounting managers.
- Prepares and submits monthly sales tax returns.
- Assists with the annual audit, tax returns, and other compliance tasks.
- Performs backup duties in multiple areas when another accounting staff is out of the office.
- Assists the Corporate Controller and CFO in identifying and mitigating organizational risk.
- Assists with other duties as assigned.
- Follow scheduled hours as needed, defined by your manager.
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting is required and a master’s degree in accounting is highly desirable.
- Prior public accounting experience is required preferably Big-4 experience.
- An active CPA license is required.
- Three to five years of prior corporate accounting experience is required.
- Automotive industry experience is required.
- Experience with Tekion software and Monday.com workflow management tools is desirable.
- Proven ability to apply broad conceptual judgment and initiative to deal with complex accounting issues.
- A solid understanding of accounting and GAAP reporting is a must.
- Strong understanding of GL and bank reconciliations and payroll processing.
- Self-motivated and aptitude for meeting deadlines.
- Highly analytical, with strong problem-solving ability.
- Proficiency in computer systems such as Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), and CDK.
- Excellent understanding of written and verbal communication.
- Ability to logically identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to complex problems and implement productive and cost-effective solutions.
- Excellent persuasion and diplomacy skills, including bringing others together, reconciling differences, and persuading others to change their minds or behavior.
- Strong attention to detail in financial reporting.
- The position has immediate oversight of employees while most of the time performing the same or directly related work as those the position leads.
- Results are defined, and existing practices are used as guidelines to determine specific work methods and carry out work activities independently; the supervisor/manager is available to resolve problems.
- The work environment is the typical Automotive Retail Dealership environment. The employee must complete their work satisfactorily in an environment with significant distractions, including staff, clients, and vendors walking through and conversing, telephone ringing, conversations carrying over, loud noises, and interruptions to answer questions from others.

About your role:
The Automotive Controller supports the Company’s general ledger and financial reporting operations. Responsibilities include leading all aspects of the Inventory/Expense cycle and Sales/Receivables cycle and providing support to all of our automotive dealerships. This role works with the Department Controllers to lead the day-to-day operations of the accounting department.

Pay range determined on experience and qualifications: $110,000 - $170,000
