Assistant Director of Athletics @ Athletics Department (Internal employees must use the internal link to login & apply). https://aisd.tedk12.com/hire/internalLogin.aspx Primary Purpose:To assist the athletic director in the supervision and coordination of the entire boys’ and girls’ interscholastic athletic program. Provide each student with the opportunity to participate and ensure compliance with all federal, state, University Interscholastic League (UIL), and local requirements. Qualifications:Education/Certification: Master’s degree in field or Administrator’s certificate Valid Texas teaching certificate Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge and interest in athletics and athletic administration Knowledge of overall operations of an athletic program Knowledge of federal, state, and UIL policies governing athletics Ability to implement policy and procedures Ability to interpret data Ability to manage budget and personnel Excellent public relations, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, parents, and staff Experience: Five (5) years successful teaching and coaching experience Major Responsibilities and Duties:Program PlanningAssist the athletic director in the organization, administration, and supervision of the overall athletic program. Supervise and coordinate the athletic activities of the middle school and high school athletic programs. Help maintain an active program that promotes good sportsmanship and student development including the time, resources, and materials to support accomplishment of department goals. Assist with the preparation of all athletic schedules. Supervise and coordinate the management of the athletic complex and all athletic grounds maintenance. Assist in the supervision and coordination of the management and operation of the natatorium. Assist with implementation of coaching, leadership and character development programs for students and coaches Athletic EventsAssist the athletic director in the coordination of the athletic program between the high schools and the middle schools. Assist with the acquisition, development, maintenance, and utilization of athletic fields and facilities. Assist with managing district athletic operations including directing ticket sales, employing game officials, and ensuring preparation of facilities. Assist with overseeing the process of cleaning, repairing, and storing of all district athletic equipment including maintaining a current inventory of supplies, equipment, and fixed assets and recommending disposal and replacement equipment. Student ManagementAssist with implementing district student management policies, communicate expected student behavior related to athletics, and ensure enforcement of student discipline in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook. Establish and maintain open lines of communication on vital issues with parents, students, and teachers. Policy, Reports, and Law Monitor coaches and athletic programs at the secondary level to ensure proper emergency action plans are in place and compliant with state law. Implement the policies established by federal law, state law, State Board of Education rule, UIL rules, and local board policy in the area of athletics. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Budget and Inventory Develop and administer budget for areas assigned based on documented needs and ensure that operations are cost effective and funds are managed wisely. Maintain a current inventory of supplies and equipment for areas assigned and recommend disposal and replacement of equipment when necessary. Personnel Management Assist the athletic director in providing inservice for coaches. Develop training options and/or improvement plans for employees in areas assigned to ensure exemplary operation in the area of athletics. Assist the athletic director, principal and the building athletic coordinator in interviewing and selecting their respective staffs. Assist with making and approving coaching assignments for the sports at the secondary schools. Assist with evaluating coaches on the performance of the special duty evaluation. Community Relations Assist the staff in promoting a closer working relationship between the school/community, teaching personnel, and coaching and administrative staffs. Articulate the district’s mission and goals in the area of athletics to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission. Demonstrate awareness of district and community needs, initiate activities to meet those needs, and use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement. OtherFollow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief. Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory ResponsibilitiesSupervise, evaluate, and recommend the hiring and termination of the athletic office personnel, coaches and support staff. Evaluation Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of Professional Non-Supervisor Personnel.
