      Position Title: Assistant Girls Water Polo Coach
      Reports to: Varsity Head Coach, Athletic Director
      Job Type: Part-Time / Seasonal

      The ideal candidate will have a deep passion and knowledge of the sport, as well as a commitment to hands-on, student-centered coaching practices, with the ability to demonstrate proper technique.

      Position Summary:

      The Water Polo season starts August 11, 2025 and runs through approximately November 15, 2025. Teams practice every weekday from 3:30pm to 5:30pm on non-game days. The Assistant Girls Water Polo Coach supports the Head Coach in developing and managing the Girls Water Polo team. The assistant coach will provide instruction, mentorship, and supervision to student-athletes, helping to foster their growth in Water Polo skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The assistant coach will also ensure the smooth running of practices and games in coordination with the head coach.

      Duties and Responsibilities:

      • Assist in Practice Planning and Execution: Help design and run practices that focus on developing players' technical skills, fitness, and game understanding.
      • Game Day Support: Assist the head coach in managing game day operations, including player warm-ups, substitutions, and tactical adjustments.
      • Skill Development: Provide individual attention to players to improve their skills and understanding of the game.
      • Communication: Foster positive relationships with players, coaches, and parents, providing clear communication about team expectations and schedules.
      • Player Evaluations: Help evaluate player performance during practices and games, offering feedback and support for continued development.
      • Promote Sportsmanship and Teamwork: Reinforce values of respect, sportsmanship, and teamwork both on and off the field.
      • Support Safety Protocols: Assist in ensuring player safety by following all health and safety guidelines during practices and games.
      • Equipment and Setup: Help with field setup, collecting equipment, and maintaining team gear as needed.

      Collaboration with Head Coach: Work closely with the head coach to align with the team's strategy, goals, and coaching philosophy.

      Qualifications

      • Experience: Prior experience playing or coaching Water Polo at the high school or youth level preferred.
      • Knowledge of Water Polo: Solid understanding of Water Polo rules, strategies, and techniques.
      • Leadership and Communication Skills: Ability to connect with and motivate high school athletes.
      • CIF Coaching Requirements: Must hold current CIF/NFHS certifications or be willing to obtain them before the season starts.
      • Background Check: Must pass a background check in accordance with school district policy.
