      Catch22 include is an alternative education provider for young people, over 700 vulnerable young people with challenging behaviours are supported through independent alternative education schools or via a range of tailored support programmes delivered in school or off-site. Include schools provide an alternative to mainstream schooling, whereby multiple barriers to learning have previously affected engagement and access to education.

      Catch22 Include Wales is registered as a Special Independent School. It provides full-time, alternative education for young people who have been excluded from their previous school or pupil referral unit, or who need additional support to what is offered by a mainstream setting.

      Job Description

      Join us as within our school as an Assistant Headteacher.

      Catch22 Include schools provide an alternative to mainstream schooling for young people age 4-18 where multiple barriers to learning have previously affected engagement and access to education.

      This role would require you:

      • To provide effective leadership and management on a specific site for a registered school, delivering a safe and secure education provision for students with complex needs and behaviours.
      • To be the driver in behaviour management and student support for complex and vulnerable studentsVale School (Ebbw Vale is a new site, opening in September 2023) for pupils aged 4 to 11 years old. As an Assistant Headteacher you will work, and provide effective leadership and management, in our alternative education provision.

      Main duties and accountabilities:

      • Act as role model; champion Catch22 and the Education directorate’s vision and values.
      • Be the lead for the development of the local self-assessment report with subsequent improvement planning and contribute to the overall quality improvement process of the school.
      • Manage and analyse performance data and report to Head Teacher. Take appropriate actions to address areas of underperformance.
      • Support the Annual Review Process within your site to ensure Catch22 fulfils its legal duty and requirements to meet needs of learners.
      • Review the provision of all pupils regularly to ensure that Catch22 offer the correct support and interventions for all pupils; this includes reviewing the quality and impact of the provision.
      • Create an inspirational learning environment with high expectations of learner achievement, success and progression.

      Qualifications

      We are looking for someone with the following qualifications, experience and knowledge:

      • A recognised higher qualification with significant experienced of teaching and planning with a willingness to work towards QTS.
      • A clear understanding of the local, regional, and national environment and the policies and legal requirements which impact on a school safer recruitment, safeguarding and health and safety.
      • Sound understanding of relevant qualifications frameworks and of a range of teaching and learning strategies.
      • Experience of working with children that struggle in mainstream education including those with ACEs, complex, high behaviour and additional learning needs.
      • Experience of quality assurance and leading and managing teams to improve performance and deliver outstanding teaching and learning.

      Additional Information

      Salary: £41,600-£52,000 depending on experience

      Contract: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per annum, permanent

      Location: Ebbw Vale
