Job Description

- Provides juror orientation and instructs jurors as to their duties and general court procedures and assists with creation, coordination and preparation of jury panels
- Processes jury questionnaires for high profile cases and provides specific jury instructions regarding those cases
- Generates and distributes certificates of attendance for jurors and validates parking garage tickets
- Answers general questions in person, by mail and by telephone regarding jury duty, disqualifications and postponements
- Prepares bulk mailings of jury summons
- Processes outgoing mail to jurors and incoming mail from jurors such as exemptions, disqualifications and postponements
- Coordinates and schedules the Central Jury Room for events with other offices/departments and outside agencies
- Compiles jury operational and statistical data and prepares various types of reports for the Elections Department, Auditor’s Office, County Clerk’s Office and the State Comptroller’s Office
- Files and maintains records regarding jury panels reporting to the Juvenile District Courts and the Justice of the Peace Courts and voucher records for jurors reporting to the Municipal Courts
- Delivers and retrieves documents from County offices
- Provides administrative assistance to department staff
- Performs other duties as required
- Graduation with a High School or General Education Degree (GED) certificate and one (1) year general office administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of basic office procedures; knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software
- Skill in typing 45 wpm with only 7 errors; skill in filing and organization of data and records; skill in performing basic mathematical calculations; skill in operating personal computer, typewriter and basic office equipment
- Ability to understand and follow instructions; ability to organize, compile information and record information accurately; ability to maintain records; ability to communicate with diverse groups of individuals utilizing tact and diplomacy; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees and the public
- Must have high-quality customer service skills
- Must be bilingual in English and Spanish
- Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
- Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
- May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
- Working conditions are primarily in an office environment
- Occasionally moves items weighing up to 15 pounds
- Occasionally moves about the office
- Frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
- Positions self to perform essential functions
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position
