      Position Title : Assistant Materials Developer-PBS

      Status: Full Time

      Location: Zumiez Home Office -- Lynnwood, WA

      Zumiez is seeking someone to assist in our Materials Development department, supporting both the men's and women's fabric development for our Product + Brand Services department. We make tons of cool stuff, and this is your chance to get in here and be a part of the cool!

      This position will work in collaboration with the Materials Developer, becoming an essential point of support for Production and Design departments regarding materials development for all categories. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, an insane love of organization, patience, excellent communication, a passion for textile science & a love affair with Excel spreadsheets.

      Principal Accountabilities:

      DEVELOPMENT:

      • Attend milestone design meetings, take notes and assist in execution of development cycle each season
      • Keep abreast of market trends and new technologies relative to materials.

      TRACKING AND SUPPORT

      • Meet established due dates based off multiple department calendars.
      • Be the point person for all departments regarding materials development status.
      • Maintain multiple season tracking reports
      • Participates in weekly Time & Action meetings
      • Developing and maintaining strong partnerships with internal and external partners
      • Track development status of all materials directly with overseas vendors.
      • Communicate materials development status to Materials Developer & overseas vendors
      • Monitor and ensure compliance to Materials and Private Brands timelines.
      • Organize and maintain materials in the raw materials library as well as PLM.
      • Manage & maintain Fabric, Trim and Wash libraries
      • Creation & maintenance of Digital libraries
      • Drive process in collaboration with Materials Developer for milestone meetings.
      • Special projects assigned as needed
      • Mail room support
      • Support in clerical or cross-departmental projects as needed.

      Required Skills & Experience

      • Must have working knowledge of apparel fabrications, characteristics, performance and textile compatibility.
      • Working knowledge of specialty wash, dye and print processes. Competency test will be given during interview.
      • Associates Degree in Apparel related majors, encompassing Textile Science, or the equivalent in experience.
      • Highly organized, detail oriented, data driven, & analytical.
      • Effective, Consistent, Clear Communication with an understanding of working with different types of personalities is a must!
      • Proficient with business software, such as Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
      • Seriously. You need to be proficient in Excel. You will LIVE in this program.
      • Proficient in use of Adobe Creative Suite
      • Ability to find solutions, work collaboratively across teams and work well under pressure in an ever- changing environment.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
      • Sense of humor and fun. Bonus if you love animals.

      Travel Requirements:

      • Potential domestic travel for training.
