What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Oversee safe loading and discharging of vessels, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and company standards
- Directly supervise labor, including foremen and clerks, while adhering to OSHA and Longshore contracts
- Communicate and coordinate operational plans with vessel planners and management
- Investigate safety incidents and manage grievances effectively to maintain a productive work environment
- Document production metrics, delays, and provide recommendations for operational improvement
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum of three (3) years of transportation or stevedoring experience or equivalent military experience
- Strong leadership, managerial, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and climb steep ladders
- Proficient in computer skills and standard office equipment operation
- Willingness to work long and varied hours, both indoors and outdoors
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- College degree in a related field or an associate degree
- Experience in customer service and managing operational goals
- Familiarity with Collective Bargaining Agreements
- Innovative mindset with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances
- Strong collaboration skills to work across different teams and functions
