      Job summary

      This is a great opportunity to join a fabulous team and be part of an exciting future! We have recently reviewed our management structure and are looking for an Assistant Practice Manager to join the team for 3 days a week. We are a 2 site practice and you will spend 2 days at The Simpson Centre and 1 day at Penn Surgery. We have 8 partners, 4 salaried GPs, a strong nursing team alongside a Physio and Senior Clinical Pharmacist. It's a great place to work with a strong teamwork ethic and the motivation to provide the best service possible to our patient group. The role has a focus on the people side of the practice and applicants with strong people skills will find this an exciting and varied role. We look forward to hearing from you!

      Main duties of the job

      The primary responsibility is to support the Practice Business Manager in all operational aspects of the practice. There is a strong emphasis on the HR and people side including dealing with patient complaints, managing the premises (The Simpson Centre is a managed building) and working closely with our PPG.

      Knowledge of employment law and demonstrable people experience is crucial.

      Job responsibilities

      As the Assistant Practice Manager your primary responsibility is to support the Practice Manager in all aspects of practice operations, managing the employee lifecycle and patient experience whilst ensuring the practice achieves it long term objectives in a safe and effective working environment. You will be expected to demonstrate competence in managing the people processes for the practice, supporting the partners in ensuring a positive, productive and inclusive culture. You will ensure compliance with employment legislation and keeping up to date HR records.

      You will be part of the senior management team and will work flexibly, supporting and deputising for the Practice Manager during absence. The role is varied and you will also be responsible for premises management across 2 sites, managing patients complaints and liaising with the patient participation group (PPG). You will work 2 days at The Simpson Centre and 1 day at Penn Surgery.

      Previous primary care/healthcare experience is desirable for this role.

      Key Responsibilities

      Recruitment and Onboarding

      Managing the full recruitment cycle, updating job descriptions, writing and placing job adverts, resume screening to interviews and onboarding new people.

      Employee Relations

      Addressing employee grievances, managing conflict, and fostering positive relationships between employees and management.

      Training and Development

      Identifying training needs, organising training as appropriate and supporting employee development initiatives.

      Performance Management

      Assisting with performance appraisals and agreeing performance goals. Providing feedback to employees.

      Compensation and Benefits

      Administering employee benefits, managing payroll, and ensuring fair and competitive compensation practices.

      HR Policies and Procedures

      Developing, implementing, and maintaining HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations.

      Attending the monthly PPG group meeting and acting as liaison between the group and the practice supporting with newsletters and patient information events.

      Oversee the friends and family test results and analysis.
