      Duty Days: 208 Days
      Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

      Pay Grade: I02

      Qualifications:

      Master’s degree

      Possess Principal/Mid-Management Certificate

      Minimum of five years successful classroom teaching experience or equivalent (ie: Instructional Coach)

      Demonstrated ability as an instructional leader

      Certified teacher appraiser/T-TESS AEL Certified (or able to obtain certification)

      Proven leadership skills

      Primary Purpose:

      Work with the Principal to coordinate and administrate the various programs of the school within the framework of the philosophy, goals, and policy established by the Board, within the status and standards of regulatory agencies, and in accordance with administrative regulations.

      Major Duties and Responsibilities:

      1. Assist the Principal with overall program planning, supervision, and evaluation for the assigned school.
      2. Maintain accurate and complete records of programs and projects for which he/she is responsible and punctually submit accurate reports as may be required by law, District policy, or administrative regulation.
      3. Interact effectively with students to promote positive attitudes toward the school programs.
      4. Assist faculty and staff in identifying, defining, and solving instructional related problems.
      5. Utilize the instructional staff and support services (intra-district and inter-district) to maintain and improve the instructional program.
      6. Facilitate teacher implementation of concepts and content in all instructional areas.
      7. Conduct instructional observations and conferences with staff that result in diagnostic and prescriptive feedback for growth and improved performance.
      8. Facilitate staff development including inservice activities, workshops, and support materials.
      9. Implement a discipline management system that produces a productive campus environment.
      10. Assist faculty and staff in maintaining a learning environment (curricular, co-curricular, extracurricular) that enhances the academic, physical, social, and emotional development of students.
      11. Create and maintain a positive climate for the campus staff.
      12. Exhibit and encourage high professional and ethical standards.
      13. Support, communicate, and interpret District goals, policies, procedures, and directives to the staff under his/her direction and supervise their implementation
      14. Demonstrate professional interactions and support for cooperatively reached decisions
      15. Maintain poise appropriate to situations.
      16. Professionally communicate and interpret school goals, Board polices, administrative procedures, and TEA regulations to the various publics.
      17. Maintain a positive image of the school by involving community members and agencies in a supportive role and by attending school functions.

      Equipment Used:

      Personal computer, printer, copier, and fax machine.

      Working Conditions:

      Maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions. Occasional districtwide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
