- Ensure the athletic program aligns with the school’s Christ-centered mission, focusing on spiritual, personal, and academic growth for student-athletes.
- Collaborate with the Athletic Director to enhance existing athletic programs, facilities, and resources supporting student-athletes.
- Lead the Athletic Director in managing day-to-day operations, including staffing, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Partner with the Administrative Team (Head of School, Assistant Principal, Academics, Assistant Principal, Student Services, and Executive Assistant) to ensure athletics supports the school’s strategic goals.
- Create and enforce policies that ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, athletic governance organizations, and school-specific guidelines.
- Promote standards of excellence in coaching, sportsmanship, and student-athlete conduct.
- Ensure the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of student-athletes through mentorship, spiritual guidance, and creating growth opportunities.
- Work with the Athletic Director to offer development opportunities for athletes and coaches, focusing on athletic and personal achievement.
- Oversee the evaluation of athletic programs to ensure alignment with the school’s academic and spiritual objectives
- Provide feedback and recommendations for growth to the Athletic Director and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Head of School to ensure proper budgeting and resource allocation for athletic programs in line with the school’s financial goals.
- Work closely with the admissions department to support student-athlete enrollment, ensuring alignment with the school’s admissions criteria and values.
- Assist in the admissions process for student-athletes, ensuring they meet necessary academic and behavioral standards
- Support the work of the Financial Aid Committee by providing input on the need-based financial aid process for student-athletes
- Ensure that coaches are properly informed about the need-based financial aid application process and assist them as needed.
- Take the lead on large-scale fundraising events in collaboration with the Development team to raise funds for athletics.
- Work to secure financial support for athletics programs through donor relations, events, and engagement with the community.
- Build strong relationships with parents, alumni, and community partners to strengthen support for athletics at Orange Lutheran High School.
- Represent the school’s athletic program at events, functions, and community gatherings as needed.
- Participate in key administrative decisions and contribute to school-wide initiatives with the Head of School and other administrative leaders.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or administrator
- Master's Degree in Education, Sports Management, or a related field
- 3-5 years of experience working in educational settings, including teaching or coaching, is required. This experience should be within high school athletics, with a strong understanding of the unique challenges and needs of student-athletes.
- 2-3 years of experience in a leadership or administrative role within an athletic department, such as a head coach or assistant athletic director, preferred.
- 5-10 years of coaching experience preferred, ideally at the collegiate or high school level
- Proven experience in leading fundraising initiatives and engaging donors
- Valid background fingerprint clearance
- Valid CPR and First Aid certifications
- TB Risk Assessment
- Ministry Safe Clearance
- Deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in Christian high school athletics.
- Knowledge of need-based financial aid processes and how they intersect with student-athlete needs.
- Knowledge and experience budgeting, resource allocation, and managing athletic facilities.
- Familiarity with the rules and regulations of high school sports associations
- Strong commitment to the mission and values of Orange Lutheran High School.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, staff, parents, and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership ability with the capacity to collaborate effectively with coaches, administrators, and external partners.
- Strong leadership abilities to manage multiple teams, oversee athletic events, coordinate with school administrators, and work with the development/fundraising teams.
- The ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and community members is essential. Written and verbal communication skills are crucial for this role.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Principal of Athletics provides strategic leadership and operational management for the athletic programs at Orange Lutheran High School. In close collaboration with the Athletic Director, this role ensures that all athletic activities are aligned with the school’s Christ-centered mission and vision. The position oversees programs that foster student-athlete excellence, spiritual and personal growth, and academic achievement. Additionally, the Assistant Principal of Athletics will support admissions efforts, assist with the financial aid process, and work alongside the Development team to lead major fundraising events for athletics.
