- Experience / Knowledge / Skills:. Knowledge of CEPH Accreditation Process and ongoing accreditation requirements.
- Postdoctoral experience in epidemiology or a related field.
- Experience in interdisciplinary research and collaboration.
- A strong record of research accomplishments and publications in epidemiology.
- Demonstrated ability to secure external funding for research.
- Experience in teaching and mentoring students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Background in advanced epidemiologic methods and biostatistics.- Expertise in areas such as chronic disease, infectious disease, environmental health and surveillance.

SUMMARY:
The Department of Health and Human is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual for a tenure-track position in Epidemiology within the Department of Health and Human Performance, within the College of Education and Human Services. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an independent research program, contribute to the teaching and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students, and engage in service to the university and the broader academic and professional community.
The position is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank. Summer teaching is optional but not guaranteed. The position will primarily serve in the graduate Public Health but may contribute to other graduate and undergraduate courses in the Department of Health and Human Performance. Faculty at Texas A & M University-Commerce are required to show evidence in teaching excellence, conduct scholarly activity, work cooperatively with others, and contribute service to their discipline, the university, and the community.
Texas A&M University-Commerce offers more than 100 degrees at the undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels to over 12,000 students. Located one-hour East from downtown Dallas, Commerce is a community with a rich combination of local music, festivals and other unique entertainment.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Research:
- Develop and maintain an independent, externally funded research program in epidemiology.
- Conduct high-quality research that results in publications in top-tier peer-reviewed journals.
- Collaborate with faculty across departments and disciplines to advance the field of epidemiology.
2. Teaching:
- Teach 12 hours (or equivalent) of undergraduate and graduate courses in epidemiology and related public health topics.
- Develop innovative course materials and teaching methods to enhance student learning.
- Mentor and advise graduate students on academic and research projects.
3. Service:
- Participate in program, departmental, college, and university committees.
- Engage in professional service activities, including serving on editorial boards, review panels, and in leadership roles within professional organizations.
- Contribute to community outreach and public health initiatives.
- Lead recruitment and retention efforts for the public health graduate program
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:
The applicant will be responsible for the supervision of Graduate Assistants and Student Lab Assistants.
