      SUMMARY

      Rosemont College invites applications for a full-time faculty member in the Humanities at the assistant professor level. The faculty member should be student centered and have experience teaching courses at the undergraduate and throughout the humanities. We are particularly interested in a faculty member with the ability to teach courses in Holocaust Studies and Jewish Studies, as well as the ability to teach writing courses and communication-based courses. Ability to participate in Rosemont College’s Cultural Heritage Gallery with expertise in German Studies is highly desired.

      The position also works collaboratively with members of the School of Graduate and Professional Studies (SGPS) including Student Services, Academic Support, and the Dean of SGPS.

      QUALIFICATIONS

      Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

      • Excellent student0centered aptitude.
      • Excellent writing skills for higher education communications.
      • Excellent oral communication skills; ability to comfortably speak to large groups.
      • Ability to assist in the development of recruitment and marketing efforts.
      • In depth understanding of adult learning theory; sensitivity to the needs of the adult learner.
      • Accepts the need for ongoing program evaluation and continuous quality improvements.
      • Approaches work form a problem-solving mode.
      • Creative problem-solving skills.
      • Strong character representation of the College.
      • Proficiency with Internet to use as resource, research and work tool .
      • Good interpersonal skills - ability to work well with Faculty, Students and Staff.

      REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

      Minimum Qualifications:

      • Ph.D. in a Humanities discipline
      • Ability to teach interdisciplinary over several humanities department
      • Ability to teach courses in Jewish Studies and Holocaust Studies
      • Ability to teach college writing and other courses in written communication.

      PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS

      • Routinely required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing documents, data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; moderate reading.

      • Routinely able to read fine print and/or normal size print

      ENVIRONMENT
